Martin Lol
From the Times ............ André Villas-Boas has asked that the future of Luka Modric be quickly resolved after being appointed Tottenham Hotspur head coach yesterday. The Portuguese is anxious that his new club avoid a repeat of last summer when the midfielder's demands to leave unsettled the team and he has identified João Moutinho, the Porto and Portugal midfielder, as a possible replacement for Modric, aside from the present talks to sign Oscar, a playmaker from Internacional, the Brazilian club. Real Madrid are keen on signing Modric but are unwilling to match Tottenham's £40 million valuation or allow Gonzalo Higuaín, the striker who scored 22 Spanish league goals last season, to be part of the deal. Modric wants his future to be clear before Tottenham leave on a tour of the United States in less than three weeks' time. Villas-Boas has signed a three-year deal, worth about £10 million, and cut his ties with Chelsea, who have been paying his salary since he was dismissed nearly four months ago in his first season with the West London club. He visited Tottenham's training ground in Chigwell yesterday morning before travelling to their new facility, in Enfield, scheduled to open late this summer. Tottenham have earmarked the need for as many as six senior players, but chiefly at least two strikers with Rafael van der Vaart's future also unclear. They expect to sign Emmanuel Adebayor, from Manchester City, permanently but face competition from Liverpool for Daniel Sturridge, also a striker, from Chelsea. Villas-Boas expects to complete the signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson, the attacking midfield player, from Hoffenheim, this week, although Jan Vertonghen's move could become protracted with Ajax appearing effectively to ask the Belgium defender to waive his right to a share of the £9.7 million transfer fee. Villas-Boas said that the squad had enough quality to challenge. "This is a squad any coach would love to work with and together I believe we can bring success in the seasons ahead," he said. "I feel privileged to be coach." Villas-Boas has been followed by Daniel Sousa, appointed opposition scout, and José Mério Rocha, the fitness coach, who worked with him at Chelsea. Tottenham have yet to name an assistant head coach, although Tim Sherwood is expected to be promoted from technical co-ordinator. Daniel Levy will back Villas-Boas in the transfer market, but the Tottenham chairman expects to spend less than he generates from player sales this summer, which could total more than £50 million. Levy, who prefers to buy young players with resale value, hailed the appointment. "André has an outstanding reputation for his technical knowledge of the game and creating well-organised teams capable of playing football in an attractive and attacking style," he said. Levy's other task is to secure funding and a naming-rights deal to help the club build a proposed 56,250-seater stadium next to White Hart Lane, at a construction cost of £250 million Tottenham are in discussions about selling the rights for £150 million over 10 years, while also selling up to 24.9 per cent in the club to a company linked with the stadium sponsor. It's been previously reported, a few times in the Times and Telegraph, that Spurs have been speaking to Qatari Airlines regarding Naming Rights of the Stadium and that Joe Lewis was negotiating to sell his stake in Spurs to The Qatar Foundation. Although TQF sponsor Barca's shirts and bought PSG, they are still allowed to buy a stake in another club in European competition, according to UEFA regulations, provided that the stake doesn't exceed 25%. Spurs are expected to make an announcement regarding Naming Rights near to the close of this transfer window.

Tiresias
Bit of smoke and mirrors and replaced it, if he'd predicted all the results beforehand that would be impressive and also impossible, ITV easily in on it, any number of ways. Like that Blaine lottery thing, predicting something after the event doesn't seem that impressive to me.
