He was absolutely fucking awful.....his passing and awareness are so sub standard it beggars belief.

Insert :joker: meme

Go back and watch the game again, in the 2nd half, i only saw it so closely as i has to pause the Sky+.

Just watch him for about ten minutes. It is embarrassing, absolutely embarrassing.

I though he was poor. There was a period that summed him up in the second half where 3 consecutive touches of his led to the ball going out of play or straight to the feet of a Liverpool player. Invites pressure on us more than any other player.

What i was going on about, that passage of play sums him up.

The only contibutions he makes are when you are on the back foot. It's helpful now and then but overall not good enough for a side that screams for pass and move.

Good job we don't play pass and move then.

I thought it was the sort of game where he isn't half bad. Just asked to defend and then hoof it away when he gets it. Anything more and he struggles.

And how can that, in anyway, be a good thing?

In that kind of game. When we sit deep. He was controlling Sterling much better than Anita.

Exactly. His defensive positional awareness is probably his biggest strength.

It's not his lack of 'attacking ability' that's the main problem when we're in possession, it's the fact he so often gifts it straight back to the opposition. Even when he doesn't it more often than not ends up back at our keeper within 5 seconds (often from within 30/40 meters of the opposition goal) which just delays giving the ball away.

Our tactics on the whole lead to us as a team being poor at keeping the ball but individuals who are not technically capable just compound the issue.
