Not a chance we'll get him now. Matchwinner at Old Trafford? The asking price just tripled.

Have to agree. If he was coming here I doubt they would have played him and cup-tied him before sending him off.

Why? Does the cup matter to us? No.

Those who watched him today and thought he did well are wrong, and those who say otherwise either know nowt about football or has never seen him play.

You were the one who called me up on making a similar statement about Owen, something along the lines of "If you think Owen's going to the World Cup, you're simply wrong". Hypocrite much?

As already mentioned, he was already cup-tied because he played in the earlier rounds.

As a Beckford skeptic I'll admit was impressed by him today. He tore Brown a new arsehole for large parts of the match and while his touch was poor he seemed to be able to use his mental and physical speed to make sure it wasn't much of an issue. On the whole though I'm still not sure about him as he was sure to up his game for today.

I don't think it's going to make much of a difference to our prospects of getting him really because I can see Bates being a cunt about it and Ashley turning his nose up at the asking price.

Your right mate, we witnessed him have a shit game today, no danger at all to the Man U defenders.................... ohhh wait.... didn't he score the winning goal, win free kicks in vital positions due to sending the fear of god into their back line, he done everything asked of him today and I guarentee the Leeds fans have a different take on his performance today .. but yeah I supose he was poor today   :idiot2:

Fair play he played well today. Out of the games I've seen him play in this was the most impressed I've been.

He still has the touch of a rapist.

I didn't think his touch was all that bad. For the goal and the chance near the end it was good enough, and aside from that he was pretty good in possession IMO.

Certainly no worse than any of the players we have at present, and that's all that matters.

dunno if anyone posted this, but;

Jermaine Beckford set for Magpies

LEEDS have told striker Jermaine Beckford he CAN leave for Newcastle - as soon as they sign a replacement for him.

And, although the two clubs have NOT yet held serious talks over a deal, Beckford is hopeful he will be a Newcastle player by next weekend.

The Magpies are willing to pay £1.5 million for Beckford, who is out of contract at Elland Road at the end of the season.

And while reports have suggested Leeds are ready to hold out for £2.5 million for their 19-goal hit man, informed sources have told the Sunday Sun that they will settle for less.

“Leeds are just waiting to sign a replacement,” said a source close to Beckford. “Once that happens, the deal should be done quite quickly.

“They accept that now is the time to sell Jermaine.

“In the meantime, though, there doesn’t seem to be much dialogue between Newcastle and Leeds, who have made their position clear.”

At 26, Beckford is itching to prove himself at a higher level than League One, where he has scored 63 goals in 94 starts for Leeds.

Talk that he has undergone a medical on Tyneside ahead of what might be his final game for Leeds in today’s FA Cup tie at Manchester United have been dismissed.

But the same source added: “It goes without saying that Jermaine is excited at the prospect – which player in his position wouldn’t want to join Newcastle?

“But we will still have to wait and see. Everything rests on Leeds getting the right player through the door to replace him.”

Scunthorpe’s Gary Hooper, Swindon’s Charlie Austin and Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp – currently on loan at Doncaster – are three contenders to fill Beckford’s shoes.

Fairplay the source is the SundaySun, but it seems fairly realistic, before todays game atleast...

Beckford was great today but i was also impressed by Leeds' freekick taker. We need a dead ball specialist and R.Taylor isnt just up to the level.

It always happens to us. We were APPARANTLY close to Arda Turan and Arshavin previously before they put in world class performances on a big stage. Now im not saying Beckford was world class today but he will definately have increased his number of admirers, making this transfer 10 times more difficult than it was 2 hour ago!
