Guest taps01
I think Ronaldo hit the nail on the head the other day when he said there is about 7 players that need to go before we get rid of Routledge. So for me, giving away one of our least costly players like this just seems nonsensical - regardless of how poor he has been. Yes but them other 7 players on higher wages are a lot harder to shift. Guest taps01
According to the Sky website, it looks like a transfer rather than a loan. Even better.
Flip
According to the Sky website, it looks like a transfer rather than a loan. Even better. This, and either we have a good player coming in or Pardew has been really impressed by Gosling lately.
ads
I reckon we've got a replacement lined up. It'll probably be Jason Puncheon though.
Guest axel
Rather let Gosling be backup on the right side than Routledge.
ponsaelius
Yeah this will be great news when Barton now inevitably gets injured and we're left without any backup.

But there's an opportunity now to replace Routledge with better, it just hinges on if we replace him with better or worse (or at all...). There probably isn't going to be an opportunity to get rid of the likes of Smith, unless we offer a pay-off or contracts run out.
Disco
Must mean Pardew fancies Gosling ahead of him. Good chance for Gosling.
JH
Rather let Gosling be backup on the right side than Routledge. and have Nolan, Tiote, Smith and Guthrie as CMs. Oh joy.
ponsaelius
Rather let Gosling be backup on the right side than Routledge. Gosling on the right is not a great prospect if his Everton performances are anything to go by. Hey ho though, let's make the team as slow as possible... not to mention increasing the chance of Smith getting games at CM.
AyeDubbleYoo
We definitely need another midfielder who's very comfortable on the RW though. Our squad was already thin enough, especially in wide areas.
TRon
Yeah this will be great news when Barton now inevitably gets injured and we're left without any backup. Let's wait and see if anyone comes in first. The window's not closed yet.

Guest
Because we need a squad of players. I'd rather play Routledge than have nobody. But if one of those squad of players isn't good enough (which he clearly is not) then what's the point of him being there?
TBG
Perch could always play on the wing.
Carlito
Perch could always play on the wing. Or even better, for another club

But if one of those squad of players isn't good enough (which he clearly is not) then what's the point of him being there? Because the chances of us getting anyone in to replace him are low. He's not that bad either. Would rather have him as backup and Gosling in the centre.

Does seem like we must have someone in the pipeline to let Routledge leave as he is our only player aside from Jonas tha has any sort of pace. We would have nothing on the bench now in terms of pace to try and change the game or improve our game in the 2nd half. Routledge came on against Wigan and his pace was a real threat, tore their left back to pieces. Let's hope Pardew knows what he is doing and has a better quality player coming in... Not sure how you can say the chances of replacing him are low, given our cloak and dagger style of transfer negotiating.
JH
Well we couldn't agree terms with Larsson, Bentley went to Birmingham, SWP looks like he's off to Fulham/West Ham/somewhere - drastically running out of options. I'm not saying we won't get anyone, but like every other transfer window I don't have any faith.
Guest neesy111
For all of Routledge's pace, he does fuck all with it. As long as we get replacement I'm happy.
relámpago blanco
I would think this means we've done a deal for someone and we are just waiting for medical or something.
JH
I would think this means we've done a deal for someone and we are just waiting for medical or something. Just like we had Milner's replacement ready in 2008
