Tiresias
When people come from shit backgrounds ostentatious signs of wealth are about pride and stuff, you have to be middle class to look down on showing off how much money you have I guess
madras
aye but many footballers are on standard wages and worry about financial matters when their careers end. it's not like every footballer is on wayne rooney type wages.
Tiresias
Still probably a lot more than their peers who didn't make it in football, of course they blow it before they retire mind

Dave
Was the day they beat us 2-0, with Yaya Toure getting both goals. We played really well in that match.

Aye, just about the only time I've not left the ground (after a defeat) where I wasn't devastated. Pretty much the whole Leazes End stood and applauded the Man City players at full-time, too. Classy as fuck. Distinctly remember the boos and whistles for about five minutes straight when Man City had the ball in the first half. Would love to see (hear) that happen again. Aye that whistling and jeering was fantastic, really intimidating. I'm not old enough to have experienced the 'good old days' of SJP crowds, but I bet that wasn't a mile off. Interpolic
Our lot did that booing thing every time the opposition got the ball versus Portsmouth/Boro in the relegation season, never heard them so intent on influencing a result as those games.
