if you we're manager, would you be disciplining him for being overweight

i'm sure manager's in the past use to do it

Is he overweight? Nolan’s a big bloke, could it be slow to standstill is as fast as he’ll ever manage.

TBF to Nolan he does his best (most the time) and his passing and movement are actually quite good, he’s probably the most intelligent footballer we have at the club. It’s just unfortunate it all happens in slow motion.  That said he looked sharper at the start of the season, perhaps he needs a rest.

overweight, the guy make's me look thin and i'm fat

compare him last season to this season and he look's 1-2 stone overweight

He looks exactly the same to me. He was overweight and unfit when arrived and nothing's changed since then.

I can understand Hughton keeping faith with him recently, but he needs to make a decision now. Surley he cant keep playing in the middle, we just get totally over-run. Problem is Guthrie hasnt exactly got a brilliant engine on him either, but he might be better than Nolan until Barton gets fit enough.

Nolan, Butt, Smith, Barton.. The day the last of this sad bunch of clowns leave the club will be a great day for the club. They're all millionaires because of this club and that doesn't seem to motivate them to even get fit? or god forbit, to have more than two decent games a season..

And for all their experience and professionalism they're all quite good at hiding from footballing responsibility.. You can't fake calm passing, you blond idiot, people are watching.. f*** that s***, those four wasters and a couple of others are quite clearly continuing to take the piss.

Sell/give away at the first opportunity.. it's a pretty obvious decision, if you ask me. Too bad there's nobody to make it.

As was said in another thread, we cannot really expect to be prmoted and have a stable season with the same central midfielders who took us down in the first place.

Interesting to naote WBA signed Koumas from Wigan on loan for the rest of the season today..............very good acquisition, IMO, if he stays fit.

He didn't actually do anything well at all. The one pass he played that worked (for Routledge) was even then more towards the byline than the penalty area. The main thing he was doing was stretching for balls, and volleying them chest height to players that were 5-10 yards away. I genuinely think that he thinks we all like him solely because of the goals too.

I wonder why Nolan is getting "rested" during such a hectic period, seeing as just about every other squad member has been? Does Hughton genuinely think he's so crucial to our chances of getting a result?

Totally agree with all of that.

I was shocked at how bad he was yesterday.  In a lot of games, I just forget he is on the pitch so the only judgement I can usually make is that he must have been fairly anonymous.

But yesterday, he was so sluggish in thought and action - it looked like he had been on the drink the night before.  He was half-hearted in everything he did - he was unable to pass accurately to players close to him, he miskicked balls, he seemed unaware of what was going on around him, he dithered on balls for so long, that they were easily nicked off him by Swansea.

The one thing I would normally say in his favour is that he is fairly vocal on the pitch and encourages the other players but that all becomes irrelevant when you are playing rubbish yourself.

I hope Hughton would drop him but fear that he is too influential.

On another note, I don't think Barton's return will change things much as he always seems to need a lot of games to get match fit.  If he is in peak form, he is definitely an asset but are there enough games this season for him to achieve that.

Was out with 2 lads off my course on Friday night who were sticking up for him, saying 'where would we be without his goals?' and were absolutely slating Guthrie.  One even went as far as to call him 'class'.  I actually began to shake with rage at their comments.  One of them bet me a pint that he [Nolan] would score vs. Swansea.  However, he'll probably have actually come round to how shit Nolan is, and will be too embarrassed to show his face to buy it.

Some people are thick as f***.
