KaKa
Would Benni McCarthy be worth a look on a one year deal? Would fancy him to get around 8-10 goals. Have you seen him for West Ham recently? More importantly have you seen his gut?! Horrible move imo. We need some fresh players with life in their bodies please.
Guest Schmocky
darren gibson from man utd, could be a loan for the season if he's not going to break into their team next season liked the look of him when he has played.

That would be a cracking move, but I think its less and less realistic as he's now being used more often by Man United in big games.
JH
If we go snooping around the relegated teams, i'd hope we don't sign in bulk from them. Maybe one, but no more. We don't want to add to a squad of first-teamers that are fresh from a relegation themselves. If we don't do a lot of business in the summer, one thing will keep us up, and that's the team spirit. The mental aspect of the squad is going to be absolutely enormous next season. as long as you take the best from teams down there it shouldnt be a problem. you could easily cobble together a side worthy of the euro spots from players at relegation threatened sides. On paper you could, aye. On paper our side was good enough for the top 8 last year. It's not just about their 'external' ability, if you like, with the football though it's a mental thing aswell. I'd really rather steer clear from players who have just been relegated. Stay clear of relegated players because of their mental state? If they're good players, they're good players - no other team avoids them because of it. I think it's our best chanceof strengthening.
Super Duper Branko Strupar
Johnson from City? They're only going to strengthen further in the summer pushing him further down the pecking list. We'd still need to invest in someone more heavy weight in alongside him but he's a very tricky player. I think definitely Carlton Cole as well as long as West Ham go down otherwise he'd probably cost too much. And then I think a right back, probably from abroad as looking at what we can get in the PL or CC wouldn't be good enough or cost effective. Not sure who but we do need to make another shrewd signing at RB to even out the wings then we should be quite strong down the flanks next season which will stand us in good stead. I think a Barton/Guthrie CM pairing should be our sub pairing. We need a ball winner and a good centre mid provider to make things that bit tighter. ....all that may cost a bit mind. QBG
Cleverley on a season long loan would be canny. Would hopefully blossom playing at a much higher standard than he currently is at Watford. Would love Van Aanholt back on a similar deal to provide cover for Enrique. Miles Addison from Derby wouldn't be a bad signing either. Especially if Taylor leaves. LooneyToonArmy
David Bentley? Johnson from City? They're only going to strengthen further in the summer pushing him further down the pecking list. We'd still need to invest in someone more heavy weight in alongside him but he's a very tricky player. Looking at him now, I don`t think there`d be any worries in that regard. http://i42.tinypic.com/zxup.jpg
macca888
I would think Scharner could be the man for the defensive role in the centre of midfield. I would also like Andy Driver from Hearts Maynard from Bristol City Wheater from Boro Hibbert from Everton (nothing fancy but an experienced PL right back) If Burnley go down, Danny Fox as back up to Jose So, Scharner, Fox, Wheater, Hibbert, Driver and Maynard would probably cost us about 15 million quid. Sell Taylor to Everton for 8 million, net deficit spent of 7 million and the squad has been improved in all areas. Ohh, and we save another 50K a week when Butt retires. If anyone will give us a million for Best, grab their hands off.

Steven Fletcher is a decent striker, but I'm not sure if it's better than anything we've currently got. All the Evertonians down here, say that Hibbert's a liability - that's why Neville is preferred. 'Rabbit caught in the headlights' and 'hot potato' are phrases associated with Hibbert. Forest right back looked decent on Monday and if Forest don't go up, he might be tempted in hading a transfer request if we bid for him.

Financially wise, Boro wouildnt get anywhere near that much for Wheater and if they want to gain promotion next season, they are going to have to sell to buy. Hibbert is not the best option but is highly experienced and no nonsense type player. Neville is in their because he is the captain and not much better than Hibbert to be honest. I am sure Danny Fox would prefer to be vying for a place in the first team of a PL club than in the CCC with a struggling team. Yes, agreed about Perch, but my reasoning behind Hibbert rather than Perch is his experience in the PL might well be invaluable as opposed to another inexperienced right back. Disco
Anyone got a link to all the players out of contract so we can have a look at who we could be linked with and then not get? Out of your list macca, only Scharner & Driver i'd like to see here. Fox won't come as back up, Wheater is shit and no better than what we have and would cost a bit, Hibbert is shit period, Maynard is no better than Lovenkrands. Could be the answer to our creative CM dilemma as well as useful back up for the left wing

merlin
Apart from the obvious requirements, I would have a cheeky try for Paul Scholes - IF Man U would release him on either a Free or a small fee. This guy is very fit for a 35 yr old, has masses of experience, and would be great for bringing into the side during games when we needed a late boost ; Scholes has a great scoring record from midfield and is a model pro. He would be invaluable as an example to young players - Clough and Taylor brought in Dave Mackay to give some stability and guidance to their Derby side and it worked a treat...Scholes may do a similar job at NUFC and hasn't had the number of injuries Mackay suffered before he left Spurs. All decent sides have a good blend of youth and experience and you don't get better than Scholes in the experience department.
