PENKAAA
Fergie hardly sells good players (Stam is the exception). He obviously deems them surplus to requirements. Ronaldo, Beckham, van Nistelrooy etc... Pique, Heinze, Forlan, Tevez Tevez was slightly different because Man U never owned him. Heinze was being a shitcunt angling for a move to Liverpool, so he made a rod for his own back. None of these scenarios are remotely similar to the Brown/O'Shea scenario anyway. These 2 are more Smith/Butt dumpings than they are Forlan/Pique/Rossi. I was just pointing out that sometimes the players he sells are good
wormy
All of these were for outside reasons and/or top, top players. Pique being the exception, young player, not getting a shot that season, and wasn't taking a step down in leaving. These are just Fergie's fringe players, the majority of the players mentioned clearly were still exceptional talents, but sold for reasons other than purely their footballing ability. Guest neesy111
Also quite a few of the players mentioned wanted to leave Man Utd as well, with Fergie relucantant to sell some of them.
Theregulars
Let Phil Neville leave, who has played better in midfield for Everton this year than some of his central midfielders (see Anderson, Carrick). Also, as they're so desperate for a good creative midfielder, don't see why they haven't considered Arteta. Back to the thread topic, the Wear will be bubbling with Wash N'Gog. He's just another on their list of completely average players who will never play noticeably well for more than 3-5 games a season.
Ketsbaia
If you're a Sunderland fan, it'd be really exciting for the club to get £20m - imagine what you can do with that! In one afternoon Bruce has went bish-bash-bosh and wasted it. What an idiot (or hero!)

I'd say only Stam and Pique were mistakes, and Pique wanted to leave. He wouldnt have gotten as much first team football as when he was there Ferdinand was at his peak and Vidic was an incredibly strong player. Stam only left cos of a bust-up with the Nevilles iirc. didnt he call them a pair of busy cunts? McGrath was a pisshead and Fergie getting rid of the booze culture enabled to club to move up a level and win a dozen titles. He ultimately built a better more fluid side after RVN leaving, as good as he was. Kanchelskis was replaced with Beckham, speaks for itself despite kanchelskis doing well for everton. Ince leaving opened allowed Scholes-Keane midfield to form. Beckham was declining as a player and wanting to faff around in central midfield, fergie bought Ronaldo in as a replacement a few months later. probably one of his best transitions ever. that's the thing with SAF, he is always on the look out to rebuild and replenish the side, moving with the times, shifting deadwood and bringing in new talent. that's what sets him apart from someone like Mourinho, who has this kind of scorched earth policy of win at all costs in the short term and to hell with the long term. and that's why he lets players go, he has a very good instinct for transitioning his teams into new eras. Tooj
What's the general feelings from Sunderland fans about Henderson going? As the Mackem lad who sits next to me at work isn't that bothered for the fee involved, as he's never rated him that highly.
