I normally hate The Sun but that EASY cover was hilarious.

Heard the Youessay manager on the radio today saying that it was a "tough group". That was funny, too.

Algeria are an excellent team apparently.

Don't know if it's been said but the BBC have added Roy Hodgson to their World Cup line-up.

Unfortunately, they've also got everyone's favourite saggy-faced twat. :thdn:

Looks like you'll need a Swede on your side to counterweight Towelie. I'll cheer for the US, no bother. :)

well of course not when you're picking players from 3 different clubs.  Ferdinand, Carrick and Rooney all won the Champions League together.  There you go.

I think what he was trying to say was that the current England team hasn't had much success collectively.  They have played together for a while and not done much.  He's right as it happens - but that might well change over the next month.

As an international team you only get the chance to win your continental competition, the world cup or the confed cup. You can really only go back 6 years before you are talking about a completely different squad, and even in that time some squads can see massive changes. So you can't really say any teams have won a shit load collectively, with the exception of Brazil.

Brazil: Confed Cup 2009, 2005, Copa America 2007, 2004

Italy: World Cup 2006

Spain: Euro 2008

Greece: Euro 2004

US: Concacaf Gold Cup 2007, 2005

Mexico: Concacaf Gold Cup 2009

Egypt: Africa Cup of Nations: 2010, 2008, 2006

Tunisia: Africa Cup of Nations: 2004

In Asia there is no real Continental Competition so to speak of as Wester Asia, South East Asia, Central Asia and Southern Asia all have there own federations.

If you take these results then the US are more successful than us recently so that makes us the underdogs, especially if you include their runners-up spot at the Confed Cup. All the pressure is on them if you ask me Also note that Holland, France, Germany and Argentina have also won fuck all so they have no chance in the WC.

Would still only add Iraq and Japan to the list of teams to have won anything in the last six years. Makes no odds really, the point still stands that none of the big teams have won much other than Brazil.

England only get 4,100 tickets for the match against USA apparently. Disgusting tbh.

It is disgusting but I'm guessing there will be loads of England fans in the 'neutral' seats. Always seems to be the case.

You know who else haven't won anything together?

Pele, Maradona and Geoff Hurst.

What a stupid fucking comment.

 Come on, man. Look at who they have on the godawful  cover up there. They haven't accomplished a thing as a team. They couldn't even qualify for Euro.

All I'm saying is, if we get drawn into a group with France, or Brazil, Spain or the goddamn Italians again. I don't say a word until the match. But England? Your league is very rich, and you do have a few very good players, but the arrogance! The arrogance is staggering considering the lack of accomplishments. There's very little doubt that you might be better than us, but I don't think it's by as great a margin as you think. We've beaten better teams than you in the last year.

I think the USA and Slovenia will give us a run for our money. I can see us winning both, but it won't be easy.

I think just compared to what we could have got, it's was a relief, the US are a decent team but they play the same style as us, if we had got a 2nd seed south american team we'd have all been shitting it. I think the word relief sums up a lot of people's feelings toward the group rather than "get in, we'd blow those lot away easily" it will be tough, but it could have been a lot worse.

Fucking ignore The Sun though. Any person with an ounce of sense knows it's a wank publication.
