M4
Hate that offside call, particularly as I used to be a left-back. So the ball is played right down the centre-forward's path, as he runs onto it, but he's not deemed offside until he touches it. Agreed. The new approach to offside overall is great for the game. But sometimes it might be in danger of getting stupid like in that instance. Of course that pass was for Torres who was then active in that play, ref should have blown his whistle. JH
He was so active, it's unreal. Ran towards the ball for a good few seconds, and only stopped when he realised he wasn't going to get there. How that isn't offside, I'll never know.

leffe186
And then the second city derby! Which sounds like it was pretty ropey too. I'm waiting on Brummie's report so I can tell my (Villa-supporting) wife what happened.
leffe186
and joe cole is injured, what a surprise............ Is that match any good at all ? It's a weird atmosphere and pretty scrappy. Bolton started well, and it's not terrible, just bitty.
leffe186
Kyrgiakos now Liverpool's only goal threat, if the last few games are anything to go by.

leffe186
Dunno, they've been the better side this half. Game only deserves a 0-0 though.
Dave
The creaming over that goal was sickening, and absolutely typical of the bumming only the supposed top clubs receive from the likes of Sky. It was a terrible rick from the goalkeeper.

NEEJ
Andy Gray spent about five minutes wanking over Maxi's toepoke. Ridiculous, he used his toe, he didnt score an overhead backheel.
Beren
An overhead backheel would be mighty impressive. I can imagine someone suspended pretty much dead-on vertically doing a backheel. Low scoring Prem weekend, only one team scored more than 2 goals.... and that was, OH, it was us.
midds
The ref gave the advantage to Gomes to keep the game flowing and Spurs were in a good position to get a quick break on which was the right decision. I'd expect every ref to ask the keeper simply to play on and keep the game going without a free-kick being taken. Gomes then f***s up by dropping the ball in front of him and appearing to take a free-kick, he should have just got rid of it. The ref f***s up by just allowing it to happen an not bringing it back once Nani puts it in the net. Common sense says that it shouldn't, in the spirit of the game, be allowed to stand. He then has another chance to speak to his linesman to get it right and fails to get it right again. Both Clattenburg and Gomes are at fault. I can see why it was allowed but it's not the right way to go about things. No he didn't. He shrugged his shoulders. Since when has a shrug of the shoulders been the sign for play on? play on is when the ref puts both arms out infornt and Clattenburg never did that once. The ref has to give a clear indication/sign that he's waving play on so the player understands fully. A shrug of the shoulders is not play on. How long has Gomes been playing professional football? The bloke knew he picked the ball up and he should have distributed it asap. He doesn't need to be told to 'play on' by the ref or anyone else because it was so blatantly obvious that it was a case of the keeper just getting the game restarted by bowling it out or kicking it from his hands. I do think the ref was wrong to let it stand but to absolve Gomes of any blame is fucking bonkers. They both fucked up.

Since when was a free kick taken by picking the ball up and throwing it on the ground to prepare kicking it?
Robster
Apparently at the end of the Liverpool game, 10 players went to their fans to applaud their support, Torres fucking off straight down the tunnel.
