So hold on a sec, somebody saying Keane, Gai assulin, Boyata also on the horizon?

If 'somebody' means a fucking retard, posting on a fucking retarded blog that nobody who's not fucking retarded reads or takes seriously, then yes.

Malcolm Tucker-esque that Dave, nice work.

Seriously though, If something like that happened, wouldn't this be the best transfer window in the history of the club?

I know the nufcblog is bollocks but it's nice to dream.

Window when Fat Sam joined seemed like the best, although the Souness Owen/Luque year wasnt too bad either.

Neither in reflection were as good as it seemed!

Im still a bit worried we have no LB back up for Enrique. Throw Lescott on the list and I might conceed!

The Assulin story is probably bollocks but is he any good.  Supposedly the new Messi but has been released by Barca and seemingly been on trial at both Blackburn & Man City but is still on the market.

All the optimism/happiness just based on some Echo/Journal reports?

No. Dassier saying he expects to see Ben Arfa in a Newcastle shirt soon.

That's even worse, chances of him telling the truth is lower than that bird in your avatar finally standing the fuck up!

Also pretty much every French news outlet reporting he is in Newcastle finalizing the personal terms tonight and even Hughton saying he expects a conclusion soon. (Earlier thread title: SSN: Hughton "Ben Arfa talks close to conclusion".)

  The Sun

CHRIS HUGHTON reckons he will have no problems taming bad-boy French star Hatem Ben Arfa.

The Toon boss is on the verge of sealing a season-long loan for the Marseille midfielder, with an option to buy him for £6million at the end of the campaign.

Ben Arfa will arrive on Tyneside with a wild reputation, after going on strike at Marseille in a bid to seal his Premier League switch.

That is just the latest in a long list of controversial flashpoints in the 23-year-old's career.

Yet Hughton, who takes the Geordies to Wolves today, cannot wait to get cracking with him.

Hughton said: "He's an offensive player who can play in either of the wide positions or off the front. He's a young player, a wonderful talent and a wonderful prospect.

"This is a player of a good age, a good development age. That's why there's interest."

The Toon Army are still buzzing after last Sunday's sensational 6-0 thumping of Aston Villa.

But Hughton warned: "You have to put that to bed.

"Strangely enough, I was equally as pleased on Wednesday at Accrington in the Carling Cup as I was on Sunday.

"We know the quality of the team we're up against next. Wolves are a good example for what they've done in the last couple of seasons - in particular the second half of last season. They've gained confidence from that and we hope to do the same."

Robbie Keane remains on the Tyneside transfer radar, while Ivory Coast midfielder Cheik Tiote has received his work permit but is unable to play at Molineux.

Sol Campbell hopes to make his bow at centre-back against Blackpool after the international break.

Hatem Ben Arfa agrees terms with Newcastle & set to undergo medical on Monday ahead of loan move from Marseille

Marseille winger Hatem Ben Arfa has agreed personal terms with Newcastle United over a proposed loan deal taking him from Ligue 1 to the Premier League.

According to RMC Sport the 23-year-old is set to have a medical in Newcastle on Monday, the day before the end of the transfer window.

This follows the comments made by Marseille president Jean-Claude Dassier revealing the young Frenchman would complete a move to the Magpies.

Ben Arfa will head to St James' Park on a season long loan with the possibility of a permanent transfer at the end of the loan deal.
