Getting it and giving it will not cut it at a team like Arsenal. Everyone in their starting eleven is better on the ball than Tiote. That's why they're good. They won't sign this useless tit and degrade their quality.

He certainly wouldn't be a regular, but I can see them using him in tricky away games, at places like Chelsea and Man City where they've been regularly overrun in the past.

Would be a terrible signing for Arsenal. Even Coquelin is probably already better.

He'd give them a bit of steel and presence which they still lack IMO. I don't think they would sign him though, probably just made up.

If steel and presence means giving away possession and free kicks then I agree.  He's a liability and we should get shot if anyone is stupid enough to take him.

With more movement around him I think he'll give the ball quicker and we might see him back to the player we saw when he first arrived when he was undeniably good. I think Wenger could get him to do a job tbh, but he wouldn't pay £9m for him.

What's so funny about that? Arsenal have lacked a real physical player in the middle since the days of Viera and Petite. I like flair players as much as anyone but a team needs a spine as well.

Did you not get tired of promoting Tiote a few years back when you spent a full summer lying about Alex Ferguson wanting to sign him to replace Paul Scholes?

He's an ineffective player. He contributes less than zero going forward and with him on the pitch we've had most of the worst defensive performances I've seen from NUFC in 22 years. Steel indeed.

Replace Paul Scholes? Where did you get that from. It was reported Man U wanted him but wouldn't go above £15m in the year we finished 5th. If that was a lie then it wasn't one put out by me, you could probably still google for the story and it would be there no doubt. The rest is just a matter of opinion. You don't rate him fine. I think he's played badly at times but he doesn't hide. I'd prefer him in the side to someone like Colback who watches 80% of the game pass him by.

Him passing it backwards and sideways isn't pointless, far from it in fact. It pulls the opposition around and opens up space for others.

Sadly we don't have the players who are intelligent to take advantage of what he's doing. It's not a video game where the game goes backwards and forwards like a yo yo, you create chances by being patient and open up initial space through players like him.

This is such a great point, and it absolutely infuriates me.

The number of times he has played it to Willo, in a position where he has space to then take the ball forward a bit and pull the opposition out of place, so he can then play the ball (on the ground!) back to Anita or another of the midfielders so they can turn and be in a position to open up the pitch man!

Instead Willo looks at the ball in terror and just hoofs it ... he's an embarrassment.

Anita plays the way he does in anticipation of others continuing to shift the ball quickly over short spaces as they then look to move into better positions.

Everyone has to have at least a similar mentality or it just doesn't work.

If Tiote plays the ball to Mike Williamson in anticipation that something intelligent is coming back, he's a bigger fucking idiot than I thought. Shithouse midfielder. Thankfully we've got much better than him now and a real manager will ship him back to a Mickey Mouse league.

His backwards passes are infuriating though, b/c many times he does have time to turn into space or play it sooner. He somehow thinks going back to the CBs or Krul is the best and safest option when someone like Anita will turn it up field and play it forward with pace and intelligence.

The only redeeming feature he consistently displays is not hiding. Anita & Colback is a stalemate of hide & seek.

His problem comes when he's with other CM's that like to hide (Anita & Colback)

The forum lost credibility with those awards.

Stand by it. Tiote's pretty crap but at least he can get around the pitch and be counted.
