Caulkin tweeted that he's out yesterday. Judging from Pardew's comments on Taylor and him - Tioté sounds very unlikely to play. Guthrie might have played well at Blackburn, but it's Cheik's steel we'll miss.

Unless Guthrie comes up with a Brian Kerr/Jamie McClen/Claerence Acuna from the old days and plays a blinder just for the sake of it.

harsh on acuna.

Hopefully we can afford to let him rest against Everton and then we have the international break so he can come back raring to go.

Surely the fact an intentional break follows the match is more a reason to play him rather than rest him? ???

Nah. Ease him back. Should've been in the reserves today tbh. Get him ready for the Manc/Chels triple header.

There's absolutely no reason to not play him.

We need him on the pitch.

Guthrie did well but lets not get carried away, we need to play our best players whenever we can (a few exceptions like Raylor at the moment tbh).

He has to go back in against Everton man. Guthrie did ok but let's face it, we'll face tougher tasks than Whelan & Delap, and in games where the central midfield is actually used.
