I think its a mistake, however at one point the keeper does have both hands on it like so can see why the ref blew up, its not that much of an error. I'd say it's a 60/40 in favour of it being a mistake. No problem with him blowing up right away either, if you think you've seen a foul you're not going to wait to let the other team score before blowing. It’s not even howler according to the laws of the game. There is no requirement for the keeper to be touching the ball.
ponsaelius Posted Monday at 10:40 Share Posted Monday at 10:40 Mad to think in January we gambled weakening the squad further by selling two players to give us more breathing space for the summer, while they gambled by bringing in two expensive and experienced loan signings. In the end we've got away with it and their gamble has failed. But Christ it was close. We have got in by the skin of our teeth, on goal difference alone. Not to mention as a side plot that we also won a cup and they messed up their huge opportunity there.

Yeah, I’d go along the lines of saying that it’s not against the rules of the game, but against the spirit of the game.

KetsbaiaIsBald Posted Monday at 11:10 Share Posted Monday at 11:10 From a villa perspective yesterday was probably played out as painfully as it could have done: - being on an incredible run heading into the final day - not turning up in the key game (again) - sending off - the Everton goal giving them hope - the injustice of the ruled out goal - then Man Utd scoring - now knowing even a draw would have been enough - being us that got the place (given they seem to hate us so much) - PSR worries due to the financial loss - now it will have the reminder of their failure for at least 8 games for us next year A lot of Villa fans are ok, I feel bad for them. The "Sob on the tyne" ones that kicked us when we were down, screw you guys.

mighty__mag Posted Monday at 11:28 Share Posted Monday at 11:28 Will the impact of no champions league affect their PSR, or were they in an ok position, would be good if Brummie was still around to comment.

It wont affect what they need to do in June. They probably had to sell someone regardless if they made CL or not. No CL will affect their budget for next season though. Will need to sell to buy. They were sinking with just a few games to go but, instead, they survived by a single point (and a worse goal difference). Their survival allowed them to invest heavily. Relegation would have seen them in real financial difficulties.

He was canny until Villa started doing well. In my opinion of course. Many posts about how shit we were, so I'm enjoying this a little. I'll take what I can get from this season. Jonas Posted Monday at 12:17 Share Posted Monday at 12:17 Seeing their fans flooding out the stadium before the end and remembering McGinn sweetened the whole deal, actually now wish it was a lot more glaring an error if anything
Chris_R Posted Monday at 12:51 Share Posted Monday at 12:51 Historically I've generally quite liked Villa, seen them as a similar "sleeping giant" to us who've underachieved compared to their fanbase size. However they seem to have some kind of furious hatred for us, so fuck them. I can't bring myself to care enough to actually hate them, but I'll certainly laugh at any failure they have and wish them badly in general even if just out of reciprocity. They need a powering down and reboot soundtrack in the background though. Great manager tbf. But don't mind a bit of saltiness given he normally has our number after turning us down! Villa didn't better than we did in our CL season. Tough break for them but ultimately they followed a similar path to us. He's only beaten us twice, we've battered him/them twice as much since then.
