Aye. 2003-4 possibly too.

He was brilliant in that season tbf (well the latter part of it anyway).

He was absolutely rubbish in the latter part.

When Bellamy got injured during the Villa game, Shola didn't do too badly when he came in. His goals pretty much got us 5th place.

Agreed... thought he was at his most infuriating that year. Him upfront with Shearer for most of the year, as opposed to Bellamy, was just about the main reason we didn't finish higher than fifth.

Got us in to Europe 06 to be fair and was carrying Shearer for a while under Roeder before he retired.

Shola is an inconsistent bumbler but what can not be denied is that he will stick his neck on the line for the club, and has always produced the goods where other more illustrious names have failed.

He'll "stick his neck on the line" because he knows he has it infinitely better here than he ever will anywhere else.

That second part is horrifying. Rarely has he produced any goods.

I think he's just thick as fuck, definatly posseses some talent but he just lacks a 'footballing brain' and for some reason stumbles/falls at the most akward of times.

He's like the striking equivalent of Titus Bramble during his lunatic days.

For him, yes. For a PL striker, absolute shite.

His peak was 05-06. Since then he's gained weight, slowed down and lost agility. He actually couldn't be any worse an athlete if he looked like Homer Simpson.

Agreed.

But he has gained a lot of strength over the past few years. Shame he often does nothing with it.

Strength means nowt in football if you don't have agility and balance, not to mention intelligence.

See Ade Akinbiyi and Drogba as perfect examples of this.
