Stu
Nolan had a stinker against Blackpool, wasting a couple of clear cut chances. Really essentially is a striker, we missed him when he was out injured. I thought he was categorically shown NOT to be a striker or 'in the hole' player back in sept/oct - CM is by far and away his msot effective position as it allows him to have a much greater influence on the game and on the team. Ronaldo
Yeah, John Obi Mikel is the reason Frank Lampard scores so many goals.

Ryan_Taylor
Playing alongside a good holding midfielder helps Lampard, ditto Nolan. No need for you to throw in the argumentative remark

JH
Got into all the right positions today, but again looked poor/slow to react in possession.
johnnypd
this basically happened for the most part: Haven't we learned that Nolan is only really effective popping up from central midfield? When he's essentially playing up front with a centre half assigned to mark him, he disappears. There's no way I'd play him up front. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,72488.msg2610958.html#msg2610958 should've scored later on though, wasn't exactly easy with the keeper coming out and a defender on his back, but the kind of chance he usually puts away. JH
Honestly can't see what he offers when he doesn't score. He's way too slow on the ball and by the time he reacts to a pass/set up, the ball is either past him or the defender has taken it away from him. JH
And you have to bury clear-cut chances from 3 yards out.
Yorkie
Completely marked out of the game today and that was a needless booking, even though it was an honest attempt for the ball. He's an important player for us but in one particular system/tactic. He's flitted from upfront to centre-midfield on numerous occassions this season, but he doesn't seem particularly diverse. Nobody
Played much better after Ranger came on. Him and Tiote needs to be playing in CM with two strikers.

Guest schmuck
----------Carroll---Ranger-------- -Gutierrez------Nolan------Barton-- ---------------Tiote-------------- is so obviously what works best, the idea that a goalscoring midfielder should be effective playing off the striker is fine in theory but the evidence doesn't bear it out in Nolan's case and it's frustrating to have to wait for a new manager to figure this type of thing out all over again again, not that it's Pardew's fault necessarily, he needs to see these things first hand, I just hope he doesn't persevere with it too much

Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Lucky he didn't catch the City player with his off the ball trip attempt in the 2nd half. His little kiss my arse pat at Hart was funny.

Aye, what an I thinking? Expecting our 'goal scoring' midfielder to find the net from three yards out. Silly me.
