He does use to cut in, in the last third of the pitch if he gets that far, but nowadays he's cutting in to the position of the defensive midfielder slot. Segun Oluwaniyi Posted January 12, 2013 Share Posted January 12, 2013 Perfectly fine as cover for central midfield, but that should be the full extent his role. The "runner" in a 4-3-3. I appreciated his defensive work, some creative passes/touches, and high level of exertion, but his pace is entirely gone. He's no longer an explosive athlete and struggles to go past players.
