Realistic Transfer Targets January 2011

Recommended Posts

Pardew - "I want a player, our board wants a player but that doesn't mean the other club wants to sell," he said.

"In some ways you don't know if the result yesterday was a good thing or a bad thing. There's a sort of clue thrown in there."

Clue? Who's he on about?

The entire last page of the thread was speculating about it.

Where in the what now? Quit the speculating then and give me answers.

I think it's pretty clear that quote has nothing to do with West Ham and everything to do with signing a striker. That's just me though.

But he says he doesn't know if the result was 'a good thing or a bad thing':

Good thing: wahey we beat Spammers 5-0

Bad thing: aw shit Leon scored a hat-trick there's nee way i can replace him nao D:

Pardew likes old fashioned wingers and probably isn't too impressed with the delivery of ours (Routledge), so that's the number one target I would expect. We don't really have an effective player at getting to the byeline and delivering.

However... having Joey ping the long diagonal balls in from the right Beckham-style is working a treat, and on the left flank we have a really clever Premier-league-worthy trick in that Jonas will toy with the ball and attract a couple of opposition players to him like bees to honey, then pop the ball back for the best crosser of a ball that we have after Barton, namely Enrique. We've got Ben Arfa to come back in, plus Routledge, Ferguson and (when fit) Raylor and Lua Lua as back-up, so we're not doing too badly.

Pardew's comments about the result possibly being a "bad thing" suggest to me he's been pushing for another striker too. Maybe a nippy finisher who could feed off Carroll's knock downs...

The first part of the quote suggests that both he and the Board want to buy the player, but the selling club needs some persuading. If the result on Wednesday was a mixed blessing, it suggests that West Ham are the club who will now be even more reluctant to sell.

Its Carlton Cole i reckon.

Don't even joke man. Wouldn't take him for £500k. Horseshit player. Prefer Pards to pick himself.

But he plays for England, man.

Even more reason not to buy him.

A few French websites saying we're set to miss out on Youssef El-Arabi (never heard of him but he's a 23 year old striker for Caen in Ligue 1 with 10 goals in 18 this season), as he's off to Wolfsburg to replace Djeko.

Carlton Cole can get f***ed! He's just Shola Abeobi mark 2

I'd take Behrami from West Ham if we could get him. He can cover right back and right wing, he's quick and he scores goals.

If we are getting anyone from West Ham it will be Behrami I believe. We were actually linked recently. He can play accross midfield and at right back so as you say, very useful.

City fan at work knows someone who works for the MEN (spot on about CH before I heard any rumours) says we have made an official approach to Citeh for Wayne Bridge on loan.

Wouldnt understand this at all unless Pars doesnt fancy Jose?!? WB is going to come here and warm the bench.

edit: didnt read his email properly. Apparently they will only sell and we walked away.

Bizzare. Makes sense on almost no level. Old, expensive, injury prone and hasn't played in ages.

No chance at all that Ashley would pay ANYONE £100k a week!

Micah Richards has said he might want out... Would be more interested in him, although Simpson hasn't done anything wrong this season
