It was the 01/02 season where he was comically bad. Remember him finally scoring against Sunderland and he tore his shirt off and sprinted around the outside of the pitch like he’d won the Champions League.

I was asking on twitter if people could list the 11 PL pens Shearer missed, which I think were all for us.

Someone got to 8

Other 3?

Very late to reply to this just noticed but I remember Shearer missed a penalty at home to Southampton in 2000.think it was tipped onto the crossbar. Won 5-0 so didnt matter

Ah nice one. Thinking that's the one where Duncan Ferguson scored two early on.

Just doing some wiki scrolling. Not that hard but, the 1978 and 1987 ball d'ors both had 3 players in the top 15 that went onto play for or manage Newcastle.

Who?

Keegan, Ardiles, and a wild guess at Roy Aitken

Not sure if there's a way to hide spoilers. *Answers below*

  Reveal hidden contents

78: Keegan (1), Dalglish (8), Souness (15)

87: Gullit (1), John Barnes (6), Ian Rush (14). Also Beardsley (21)

They little eye in your posting field generates a spoiler tag.

Three players started in Newcastle’s last ever win in the old ‘old’ Division One (when it was still the top flight), also started in Newcastle’s first win in the new Premier League. Name them.
