KaKa
This. What are you basing all the "it was the shittiest World Cup I've watched" on? It was s*** to watch on the tv? Oh I'm sure it would have been f***ing awesome if it had been in England.... There wouldn't have been f***ing vuvuzelas destroying the atmosphere in every f***ing match for a start. Probably best that England don't ever win it then. Just in case the South Africans bring their vuvuzelas with them. South Africa won't make it to WCs they're not hosting, so no. Wrong! No, loads better African sides competing for those five spaces. Despite being horrific from 2006-2010, they've appeared reinvigorated since this June. It's actually happened quite rapidly as they looked very poor before the World Cup. The world cup was a huge boost for them. South Africa are coming for sure. They will be one of the emerging African teams by then.
Stifler
Just to follow on from Doug's very good post. Sending the Prime Minister, the Prince and Beckham did reek of desperation and was quite over the top really. Utter rubbish. I see it more as a stronger bid. The PM showed that the country backed it, the Prince (future King?) showed that the Royal family backed it, and Beckham showed that the public backed it. Kaizero
I'm still flabbergasted the two worst bids won.
ElDiablo
Just feel a bit meh about all this really. FIFA are cunts and we were obviously never going to get it.
ponsaelius
I'm still flabbergasted not surprised in the slightest the two worst wealthiest, most corrupt bids won.

Sending the Prime Minister, the Prince and Beckham did reek of desperation and was quite over the top really. Yeah, we could have done with a lifeless presentation and the handing of £££ to FIFA. More Eddies who was the best part of your presentation, and less of the posh well off to do sorts would have been better.
cubaricho
Just read a rumour that they might move the start date of the WC to accomodate Qatar, is that even possible? I thought it was always June/July.
Stifler
It's about time the FA told FIFA to piss off. We don't need FIFA, and FIFA have shown that they don't need or want us. Their nothing stopping us from forming a breakaway organisation. All we need to do is keep or registration with UEFA, fuck FIFA. Lets wait untill some small country from outside of Europe wants to play England, or FIFA fancy another England vs Brazil game. It's them that will lose out not us. Anyone actualy think the games and decisions in these World Cups are going to be honest?, fuck off all the referee's will be threatened and bribed in both countries, form the governments, media, and they gangs they have roaming the streets. Kaizero
I'm still flabbergasted not surprised in the slightest the two worst wealthiest, most corrupt bids won. Well, yeah. Just the obviousness of it all. They've basically just said "We're corrupted. Wahey!".
Neil
Confirmed that we got knocked out in the first round. I'd call it unbelievable but that isn't particularly accurate.
James
Our own media stirring shit didn't help. isn't it the people who accept bribes for votes that 'don't help' ? Obviously. But all the accusations etc that got leaked by our own press did not help. If they've been bribed, it wouldn't matter what the press said. Would the Spanish and Russian media sources run the stories as much as we did here? Essentially, FIFA will see our country as a grass - this is our punishment. If they think this is retaliation to our media, they should wait for the media's retaliation. Be afraid FIFA be very afraid.

Why would you think that it matters what the media have reported? The money spoke, and it didn't come from England, Holland/Belgium or Spain/Portugal. It's incredibly naive to think that some media reports would have anything to do with the outcome.

Wullie
Where was this 'essential for humanity' angle when they gave recent World Cups to Italy, USA, France and Germany? Surely the tournament is about football more than charity? Reminds me of when Newcastle lost the Capital of Culture title to Liverpool because the judges decided the latter was such a dump and needed the money more. ponsaelius
Sending the Prime Minister, Prince and Beckham would have actually been great...if having a soundly prepared and detailed bid meant anything. Really we should have just bunged them.

Sending the Prime Minister, the Prince and Beckham did reek of desperation and was quite over the top really. Utter rubbish. Nope. No, Niel is right about your post. Do you honestly think a part of the bid evaluation process is to judge how "desperate" or "over the top" a country appears with the big names that get behind it's bid?
