“I hear one or two things that Jose, Joey and Kev are not committed because of their contracts, and that’s absolute rubbish.

“Joey’s banging on my door about what he has to do to make Saturday, and he’ll definitely play.

“Kev’s given 100 per cent for me every game he’s played. He leads by example in training.

“I think it’s important for Newcastle fans to understand that, and not the negative voices who put stuff on the internet which is absolute rubbish.”

I don't know why he's even acknowledging this kind of thing, let alone where he's read it.

No mention of Jose  :kasper: :frantic:

one of the lads from work went to see Joey at a talk in at the Hilton,  this was what he said about Pardew

-

He is a cracking bloke and a great manager and coach, I hope the fans can

give him time and see what he can do, people think he's Ashley puppet, I

can tell you he most defiantly isn't anyones puppet and he isn't scared to

stand up to anyone at the club, I love working with him.

Joey also said Pardew was working his bollocks off to get Joey the deal he wants.

Good news.

Was very nervous how it would turn out, but it seems like Pards have got on well with the lads.

Back in the day when teams did a cup final song innit.

Fairly certain the host of the show is a sexpest.

Aye, Pards looks his usual chilled self. He's just singing, nothing special. Who's the Lionel Ritchie lookalike in the back row?

For some reason I would like to see City attempt to get Balotelli to take part in one of these.

Edit: John Salako's there anarl. Things just get worse.

Ashley must take some credit for 'bold' decisions

ALAN PARDEW believes Newcastle United have “bold” Mike Ashley to thank for relegation not causing “irreparable” damage.

The Toon are back at the scene of one of the darkest days in their history this afternoon to take on the club that sent them tumbling into the Championship back in 2009.

That United have returned to Villa Park two years on in much ruder health is a testament to the character of the players who remained following their humiliating demotion.

And Pardew feels Ashley deserves credit too for taking the financial hit of keeping a clutch of big earning players on board.

Pointing to the fire sales at Leeds, his former club Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday, he feels the Newcastle owner could easily have “run for the hills” in the wake of that dreadful day in Birmingham.

That they did not is a decision that he feels will eventually be recognised by the Toon Army.

“You have to say, and the figures last week back this up, that Mike Ashley put his neck out two years ago (after relegation) in the Championship year to keep the big players.

“That has proved to be a really sound decision because most clubs, quite rightly, run for the hills a little bit.

“We did at Charlton. We had no backer like Mike, no chance. The damage is irreparable and you can see yourself go through the division like Charlton, Sheffield Wednesday and a number of clubs have.

“That was a bold decision by Mike and Derek on this occasion that perhaps went a little bit unrecognised.

“On reflection, I think maybe in two or three years time, if things have gone well for us, suddenly it might be seen as a very positive thing that Mike did. I believe it was.”

Pardew believes one more win will take United over the line this season – a development that will cause a sigh of relief in the Newcastle manager’s office.

Admitting to his serious concern after the sale of Andy Carroll, he points out that United’s thin squad left them vulnerable in the second half of the season.

Asked whether the sale of their No 9 caused him anxiety over their Premier League status, he replied: “I was very, very worried.

“It was a massively important decision to make – a very, very tough decision.

“It’ll only be right if we stay in the division and we get the money to invest in the club – which Mike has assured me we will.

“Then it is a good decision. But that’s not done yet.”

Fair enough, bit of sugar and salt there though as in a nice last bit to that piece he is basically putting the pressure back on that if we don't continue to invest past balls will be seen as shrivelling sharply.

Loved this bit of the Sunderland story:

“A win Sunday and we won’t go down, 100%,” he said. “But we’re not just going to turn up at Villa and be OK. We’ve got to go to war again – and every week between now and the end of the season we’ll go to war.

“What I’m looking at is if we win on Sunday, suddenly we have Man United at home after an FA Cup semi-final and we can really, really tear into them with a bit of freedom.

“I think if we win the most disappointed man with our result will be Sir Alex – I hope he chokes on his tea a little bit if we win on Sunday!”

Fuck yeah! :snod:

Love the idea that if we dispatch Villa, we might be able to enjoy ourselves against ManU and cause them problems.
