Newcastle Fan
Good. Isn't Wiafe Danquah already there? He's no longer our player iirc Two incredible signings for Gateshead, Tavenier got alot of football with the first team in pre-season and Edmundsson is a full international and played against the likes of Italy, hope they destroy their league. ponsaelius
Be great to see them both do well, which I'm sure they will. Might make time to go along to a Gateshead game now
La Parka
Thats awesome. Good luck to them, both look like they have a future!
Dave
Positive news. Dunno about Edmundsson but Tavernier was on the fringes of the first team squad at one point and needs regular competitive football to continue progressing.
thenige
Tavernier looked half-decent pre-season, likewise Edmunsson has always looked okay. Hopefully they will pick up a bit of experience and help Gateshead out at the same time. Good luck to 'em.
Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Great move for everyone involved, good benchmark for Tavernier, and it'll really help round out Edmundsson's ability. He's great on the ball and will get stuck in, joining Gateshead will only toughen him up further. Fantastic!
johnnypd
interesting. thought Tavernier would appear vs Stevenage, and i reckon he is capable of playing at a higher level, but it's good to see they'll both be getting football (while probably remaining close enough to train with us every so often/use club facilities). could be the start of a collaboration? Benwell Lad
Glad to see the "cockney mafia" regime helping out Tyneside's second club while at the same time getting some decent senior experience for reserve players. Mutually beneficial and very positive.
Guest Stephen927
Great for Gateshead but I'd rather they had gone on loan to a Football League team if it was possible. Valuable experience all the same though, better for them than knocking around the reserves at this stage.

BSQ is still a decent league, and Gateshead are a decent footballing side.
Hughesy
Seems too low a level for them to be playing at for me. Got to be League 2 at the very lowest.
Guest
To be honest there's very little difference in quality between League Two and the Conference. It's almost all pro now it might as well be League Three.
Hughesy
Suppose so - it just seems wrong that a couple of our decent young players are playing non-league football.

League 2 is very poor from 10th down, not that big a step down plus it will be Tav's first regular football outside of reserves, good place to start! Oakie Doke
I loaned Edmundsson when I was Gateshead on FM. He averaged about 2 goals a game.
Guest
You quite often see teams go from the Conference to League 1 in a couple of seasons and clubs like Luton, Wrexham, Mansfield, York and now Darlington and Grimsby are showing how hard it is to get out of there. Good level of football.

FM falls a part when you loan players from high leagues. The attributes/CA ranges don't scale well at all

Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Credit to Pardew. He did speak about doing this, but we all thought it was generic manager talk #4.
broonalegeordie
class move, always wondered why we didnt do this sort of thing with Gateshead. Got to be better than hoying them in the reserves / under 18s.
