City ruins the careers of so many players.

1. Get there

2. Get your ridiculous long-term contract.

3. Fall out of favor

4. Sit on the bench, deteriorate

5. Fail to move anywhere because others can't match your wages

6. Career suicide.

How good would Johnson be if he'd been playing regular football? Couple more years of this and he'll be liable to go the SWP route.

Aye, seems quite strange that Milner has survived so far.

To be fair, Milner's a top professional by all accounts and is probably quite disciplined even when he's not in the team. Johnson, by contrast, has a reputation for taking to the drink when he's on the bench.

(Would still love it if we bid for him, though).

Agree. Milner has been a top pro in his time here, too, despite wanting to move to Villa.

Yeah, if Johnson had gone somewhere he would play every week I've no doubt he would be starting for England and top clubs all over the world would be looking at him.

Still, it must be incredibly hard to turn down such massive money, and if you believe in your ability you can maybe deny the fact that someone better will be signed pretty soon.

I think any young player would be daft to move to Man City. Just look at John Guidetti in the development squad. A talented youngster who scored a great goal for Burnley last year, under the old regime he might have come through similar to Ched Evans (Just prior to the mega spending). Now he stands little to no chance as they have so many strikers.

He wouldn't stand a chance of playing even if they only had 1 or 2 senior strikers as long as Roberto "4-5-1" Mancini was in charge.

Joel Campbell please.

Cheap and mental so fits our bill. Never seen him play mind

Edit: After 2 mins of highlights i can be sure he wont end up here, £1m would be a steal but it looks like better teams are already talking to him(arsenal seemingly leading the chase)

Does anyone know anything about Tom Cruise (the footballer before you start). He was released from the Arsenal academy this year and is available for nowt at the mo.

If he's any good he'd fit the Ashley bill, young, cheap and if he turn out to be good we can flog him in a couple of years.

Saw two games with him in the cup, one was awful but the other looked decent. Arsenal dont release too many for nowt so mustnt be too good.

Aye this thought was the first thing to cross my mind. I'm not saying it has happened in this case but I'm sure Wenger is capable of making a mistake.

Park Chu-Young still hasn't found a new club and is desperate for a move. Hasn't linked up with the Monaco squad and is training personally back in Korea at our national team club house.

Seems like a no-brainer at this point. The military service thing is a pain in the ass but don't know why nobody seems to be willing to just hand him a three-year contract.

Whats the deal with his military service?

<The "Park Chu-Young National Service Status" summary>

Basically, the guy needs to go to the military. He's got three options.

(1) He can go back to Korea and play for our Army team for two years. Our Army team plays in the first division so it's still a reasonably high standard of football. Players can only apply for the Army team before their 28th birthday, so he would have to return to Korea for two years after completion of the 2012/2013 season.

(2) Alternatively, he could play for the Police Force team for two years instead. The Police Force team accepts players until their 30th birthday, so he could continue his career in Europe up to the 2014/2015 season. However, the Police Force team plays in our second division so once he's released at 32 years of age he's probably done as a top-level player.

(3) The final option is to just sit on it and see out his career, and then go enlist as a soldier for two years just like everybody else. Trust me, you do not want to enlist as a soldier in the ROK Armed Forces at 35 years of age. It sucks. Bad. This isn't really an option.

(4) Well, I guess he could just go and win a medal at the London Olympics, securing a legal exemption. Good luck with that.

And yes, this situation is ridiculous and does suck.

Bloody hell none of them sound particularly appealing, what if he chose to never return to SK?

He'd probably be crucified in public opinion over here and barred from playing from the national team. Don't think he'd want to be unable to ever return home and become hated by his people.

Am guessing option 2 would be best provided he can find a club now. Dont fancy his chances of getting back into a good league after option 1 and option 3 is not worth thinking about tbh

Yeah.

[desperate] Anyway, given that we're desperate for a striker and he's desperate for a club and wouldn't be too expensive... Surely somebody somewhere has to be thinking about this? [/desperate]
