Tiresias
When you look at what clubs are successful coming up it's not necessarily the big spenders. The first season is difficult and not the time to be trying to cohere a squad together (can get it to work if do it well ofc), better to add quality where needed and rely on the bond of the team that got up. See Norwich, Swansea etc. The time to really stick money in and rebuild squad is after first season, squads seem to lose some of the energy and drive at that point. They'd still be well sorted with £40m
Deuce
The daily star (I know) is reporting that Yaya Toure is going to be offered a new 5 year deal worth £55 million Pretty remarkable that he bounced around some second-rate teams before making it at a larger club, despite Arsene taking a liking to him at 20. Conjo
Olympiacos & Monaco are hardly second-rate teams. Even less so at the time he played there.

Deuce
He moved to Olympiacos at 22. And for a player of his talent, even at that age, it's still surprising he was at Olympiacos and not already in the plans of a major side in a major league. Stifler
Martins rumored to be going to the MLS, it was only a matter of time not a bad player when he could be bothered. The problem he had here was he could go a whole game missing chance after chance, then other games he could have one chance and score from it. No consistency from him.
