Dave
Probably worth a thread by now. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1391652/Newcastle-wait-15m-Gervinho-Pardew-prepares-fantastic-offer-Enrique.html Newcastle wait on £15m Gervinho as Pardew prepares fantastic offer for Enrique By Sportsmail Reporter Last updated at 11:28 PM on 27th May 2011 Newcastle manager Alan Pardew expects a decision on Gervinho's future next weekend. The Toon boss met the £15million-rated Lille striker, 24, last week but he faces competition from Arsenal and Liverpool. Gervinho wants to make a decision on his future after the Ivory Coast's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin on June 5. He would prefer Champions League football next season after helping Lille to their first French title in 57 years this month. http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2011/05/27/joey-barton-will-be-in-alan-pardew-s-squad-61634-28772916/ Despite concerns over Barton and José Enríque (also out of contract in 2012) and ongoing negotiations with Nolan, Pardew hopes to lighten the mood with a quick signing. “We’ve given a player a deadline this week,” he said. “We think that’s 60-40 in our favour.” Thoughts? Gash
I'd like to think we wouldn't sign any African's this transfer window, ruling us out but i also think he won't be playing for you come September.
Neil
I don't like the question mark in the thread title. I think he definitely exists. Reads as the posing of a philosophical question. "Do you acknowledge the concept of Gervinho?"

Dokko
Where would we play him? Up front , right wing, behind a single striker but off to the right with HBA to the left? Can't see it happening, just trying to suss out what Pardew is thinking. Also with the current Barton situationid have expected some aortic reaction by the club in terms of transfer targets, surely they'd change slightly, maybe even quite a bit. Stifler
We don't have a chance, the same goes for Gameiro. It's good that we appear to be going for these types of players though.

Of course we have a chance, you're forgetting what our main bargaining chip is: Sign the contract, mate.
JH
We have a chance. In fact, I'll put my neck out and say he'll sign

Neil
Yeah, I think everyone is resounding in their view that they fully expect him to sign for you.
JH
It doesn't have to be one extreme or another Stifler. Some just aren't blankly ruling it out like you are. Our hat is in the ring = we have a chance.
Interpolic
Yep, definitely signing. I've heard nothing that suggests otherwise.
