Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)

Recommended Posts

If we continue actually playing just 1 through the middle and actually passing the bloody ball and attacking teams he's going to look bloody good when he gets back.

Yes he may have been playing with an injury but the main reason he struggled like everyone else was tactics, from a pure possession and creating standpoint our style has improved in recent weeks so he should excel in such a set up.

Not to mention he can pass to a RB now who actually looks to go forward and not a reliability in possession.

I mentioned a few months back that i felt he was our most important player behind Colo and our results without him sort of prove that.

Not only is he important for control and creativity but defensively he provides so much cover for the team and as an underrated and almost old school knack of knowing where to position himself and intercept passes and win tackles before they actually happen.

Not to mention his work rate is immense, buying Debuchy and a CB is very important for our defence but i believe also that Cabaye coming back into the team will also lead to more clean sheets and a big reason why we had so many last season.

His return cannot come quick enough.

Tbf he was from an offensive stand point but not from a defensive standpoint he was as good as ever but the reason he struggled was like everyone is he didn't have a clue what to do under Pardew's tactics.

I'm going to blame Pardew for that more than i am Cabaye, sure he could have done better but our system and style of play was the major culprits.

Hopefully in a improvement in style, new signings and key players returning will result in a upturn in results and form.

Before Cabaye got injured we'd lost 2 games. Since he's been injured we've lost 8 out of 10.

I seem to remember him getting stick off some for playing poorly.

Even him playing with an injury holds us together defensively and offensively. A massive, massive miss to the side.

the worry is that we panic and rush him, ben arfa and saylor back too early.

but what is the risk with his type of injury? If the stomach has healed it's healed. It wasn't really a footballing injury.

I'm pretty sure Gerrard has a recurring groin injury, just to name one example.
