alpal78
4 million pounds Daylight robbery My concern now is that we a mega mid either in the next 2 days or in the summer and the club sees it as a cash in. I like the way he handled Jonas, real captain material. In fact I'd go as far as saying that he'd make a better captain than Colo although Colo is the more indispensable player. Cajun
Just for perspective we got Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Tiote, Sissoko, Marveaux and Anita for around what Henderson went for?
AlanSkÃrare
Sissoko seems a bit more dynamic so I'd not be completley against playing him in the nr 10 role. Cabaye can still push forward if we keep someone defensive minded by his side. His closing down is top class as well, wins us the ball and pressures the opposition into mistakes all of the time. We look a different side with him. As for his handling of Jonas etc yesterday, what a leader and great example he is. I love him.
Skirge
Yohan Cabaye delighted with win over Aston Villa by Lee Ryder, Evening ChronicleJan 30 2013 YOHAN CABAYE believes Newcastle United's French Revolution starts here after securing a crucial first away win of the season at Aston Villa - and dismissed talk that a January raid for Ligue 1 stars would prove to be the Magpies' downfall. The French international was at the heart of United’s 2-1 win last night in Birmingham, and bagged what proved to be the winner with a goal of the month contender. But after Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Moussa Sissoko and Yoan Gouffran made their debuts in a team containing Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy, the ex-Lille star feels Newcastle can start surging up the table. All three of the new boys made a contribution last night with Sissoko laying on the first goal for Papiss Cisse, Yanga-Mbiwa making a crucial late block tackle and Gouffran’s energetic display putting Villa on the backfoot in the first half. An ecstatic Cabaye – who left the field having thrown his shirt in the crowd with his name being chanted loudly in the away section – told the Chronicle today: “Hopefully it is the start. It’s very good for us, the new players have given us spirit on the pitch. “We have more competition to play now each week. “It is important to be doing the right things in training in order to be in the starting XI at the weekend.” And despite suggestions that United will implode due to having the wrong balance in the dressing room, Cabaye said: “It can work – we are a team. “Yes, they are coming to England and it is new for them. “But they start English lessons soon because it’s important. We have to respect English people by being able to talk to them. And it’s important for the group. We will help them but they have to learn the language.” United put four points between themselves and the relegation places last night. And Cabaye reflected: “It was an important win. Three points for us weren’t easy. In the second half they piled on the pressure and it was more difficult for us. “At the end though we held on to the points. “It was very important to win. We saw two sides of football. “But the win for our minds is very important. “The first half was good for us, we had good play between the lines and each side of the pitch. “In the second half having N’Zogbia behind Benteke was more difficult to deal with. “We were solid though and kept the points.” Cabaye’s goal was his fourth of the season and he underlined his eye for the spectacular with a stunning strike at the Holte End. Looking back on the wonder goal, he said: “The ball came in from the right and in my mind I think if the defender wanted to do his job well, he heads it behind him. “He didn’t and the ball came to me and landed perfectly. “I wanted to focus on my first touch, a bit like the Liverpool goal. Then I showed composure and saw the ball going in.” Cabaye, though, also said he felt emotional afterwards, dedicating the goal to a friend. He said: “I dedicate the goal to somebody who lost his wife two or three days ago. “His name is Ali and he is a close friend. I want to think about him.” However, he left the final word with the brilliant Toon Army after they made the game at Villa Park feel like a home encounter. He said: “Every game now we have our fans behind us. They were fantastic again at Villa. “That’s why we went over together to thank them for their support.” Read More http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2013/01/30/yohan-cabaye-delighted-with-win-over-aston-villa-72703-32708016/2/#ixzz2JSKuCyMe

Unbelievable
Quite surprised by the low scores in the matchday thread. Thought he was our best outfield player, with Sissoko maybe. Works incredibly hard for the team, is a leader out there and provides end product too. Really hope we can hold on to him for years to come.
GuyP
Its a weird one, but i swear he is playing better this year than he was last year (not that he was bad) but outside of that spell in the 4-2-3-1, he was not as good as this season tbh. My opinion only like but i think he has fully settled into this league now

Although in fairness the whole team were really poor at passing last night. Only Perch and Santon gave it to their own teammates consistently. Superior Acuña
His celebration was proper class last night. Loved it - really feel like he loves each and every one of us Every time when one of the new lads did something good last night, he'd go and give them 5. Definitely a captain. TherealnorthernTOON
After he came back he looks even more determined to make this a great club to be at and follow. Think the aspiration of the owners to just gather the next big france team in one bunch at club level have made him feel committed. Making a captain at club level here would surely also see him captain the national side at some point.

Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Mbiwa, Sissoko and Debuchy for less than 25m. Those 5 are all full internationals. Debuchy and Cabaye are first choice at the moment and the other 3 should/could be back in swing. Its Insane man! what a f***ing strike man, what a guy....would say he's my 'favourite' but there's so many likeable characters at the minute Same man, I'll say Colo, Cabaye, Cisse, Ben Arfa but now you add the new lads - I can't ever choose.
