Guest Phil K
Ginola on Cabaye, via The Mag; Host : "it’s not a big English club and in fact…is it a club to gain experience like for Ben Arfa? What is it?” Host: “Isn’t Newcastle a ‘sad’ place” ....and they're STILL more respectful towards Newcastle than our own press and media !

Dave
The financial climate of English football means we have no choice but to be a stepping stone but I'd like to know what he thinks of the likes of Wigan and Stoke.
Yorkie
I think if continues to have a good tournament, he'll take that good feeling into the new season and be even better. Can't wait to see him improve because i really think he's going to. Potential to be a bit of a hero at this club, imo.
Zach
As long as he doesn't do too well so clubs start bidding.

I'm excited by the potential possibility of Cabaye being allowed the role he had vs Swansea, Stoke etc etc but on a consistent basis he would rack up goals and assists into double figures imo. As well as he did last season, i feel he is restricted by playing so deep.

The better he plays in big tournaments like this, the more he is in the public eye and girls start to take notice.
Fenham Mag
It's sad I know but quite a few of my Mam's friends turned up just to see Ginola back in the mid 90's.

madras
Ginola on Cabaye, via The Mag; http://www.themag.co.uk/tyne-talk/david-ginola-yohan-cabaye-has-crossed-another-level-an-enormous-one/ David Ginola “Yohan Cabaye Has Crossed Another Level, An Enormous One” by Mark Jensen on Saturday 16th June 2012 Yohan Cabaye put in a man of the match goalscoring performance and the French public made him easily man of the match with three times the votes of any other player. Another feature of the coverage last night on French TV was the appearance of David Ginola on the pundit panel. If you give him the benefit of the doubt, the host of the programme was playing devil’s advocate because of Ginola’s history as a Newcastle player. Daveed though was right in there sticking up for Newcastle the club and city – thanks as always to Pierre for the translation services. As you will see from the cover of L’Equipe today they have made ‘Dreamboat’ their cover star with the headline of ‘The Blue Lightning’! (Watch Ginola’s defence of Newcastle (In French) here along with highlights of Cabaye’s performance) Ginola : ”I think that his time at Newcastle and his successful season…. (rudely interrupted as in ‘here we go again…. England is great Newcastle is great blah blah blah) Host: “is it because he is in England at Newcastle that he is good?” Ginola : “It’s very important, he has really gained confidence by playing in the Newcastle team which has had a very successful season. I think that he has had the fans behind him and the people at the club would have seen a player with a real future at the club. He has gained confidence that you see time and time again in his manner, not only in the fact that he scores the goal but in the centre of the pitch, his presence as a player. You feel a player who has more bottle, who’s gained more experience. In a year he has crossed another level, an enormous one. Today it’s beneficial for the French team and you cannot put a value on it. Host : “You have played for Newcastle, we knew when Cabaye left for Newcastle we said why is he going there, it’s not a big English club and in fact…is it a club to gain experience like for Ben Arfa? What is it?” Ginola: ”It’s the League…” Host: “So it’s not just the club…?” Ginola: ”It’s the league in one way and the club for something else. Every weekend you are playing against great quality teams. The English game is very open, you play at 200kms an hour, you need to be physical, it never stops, you don’t have time outs.” Host: “Isn’t Newcastle a ‘sad’ place” Ginola: ”Newcastle is a great place, even if it is in the North of England where there is an economic crisis, it has been classed as the second city in the world after Buenos Aires where you party the most!” (but he mentioned that doesn’t apply to the players – with a wry smile!) The host sounds a right c***, Newcastle is not a sad place. it's what many people think, till they get here. one of the greatest pleasures in life is watching the reactions of those who don't know newcastle and northumberland when they actually get to see and experience it for real. Ronaldo
Think something is getting lost in translation a little bit. That's the second time I've seen Newcastle described as 'a sad place' by a Frenchman.

Tiresias
I suspect they're saying newcastle is a depressed area in terms of the economy and it's translating as sad.
cubaricho
I hope that Pards is watching this tournament closely and plays Cabaye in the same position next season as he's playing in this tournament - he's much more effective pushed up behind the strikers. It was obvious for us all to see, totally baffling why he went back to 442 when the 433 had served us so well.
Guest Howaythetoon
I celebrated Cabaye's goal more than I did Carroll's for England... sad I know. Regarding Ginola, he used to get stick when he returned here but he champions our City, people and club in the same way the likes of Sir Bobby did, KK et al. Gullit is similar. It makes me immensley proud to listen to the likes of Ginola saying nice things about our City, the people and our club because lets be honest, he's one snazzy fucker in every way. Cabaye likewise. Btw when I was in Paris last year, although as a city it didn't feel at all like a footballing one, similar to London in many ways, I enjoyed many a conversation about Newcastle with a few of the locals. We like to down-play our own club if you like at times but I'm telling you, NUFC is regarded highly on the continent. I was in the ancient 'city' of Carthage a few years back and was given a free coffee by a local caffe owner because I was wearing my Toon top, he was a Toon fan apparently.
