Big Geordie
@CaulkinTheTimes Ashley's valuation of Cabaye said to be £25m ish. PSG bid well below that. #Nufc say no contact from #Mufc as yet. Testing few days ahead. It'll go right to the wire, and it will be the team that suffer ultimately.
Wilson
"Testing few days ahead", what a load of s**** that is. why give a valuation...I never understand this, just say 'no' unless they offer something you can't ignore. That is assuming you're trying to keep him at all costs.
jimmymag
Newcastle set Yohan Cabaye transfer fee at minimum £25m after rejecting £14m PSG offer (Daily Mirror) http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-transfer-news-yohan-cabaye-3064790 Cashley must be loving this! Guest
What does that even mean. "Bidding starts at £25m". Is there a "Buy now" button for say £28m?

duo
£14m Scary stats….depressing second half of season ahead.
Decky
I predict a panic offer of about £25m from PSG or Man Utd on deadline day, or towards the end of the week. With us accepting and being up shit creek with no replacement until the end of the season. We're safe from relegation, so Ashley and co probably couldn't care less if he goes now or in the summer. Teasy
He was injured for large parts when we were s*** last season, and has been fit the majority of our good one and a half seasons. Unless people are putting last season's farce down to his injury, those stats mean nowt. He's an awesome footballer but I'd not take much notice of that. Surely thats the point though? Aye him being out wouldn't have been the only factor but it was certainly one of them. Its being presented and often interpreted as if Cabaye was basically the only difference between the wins and losses though, when as you say he's only one reason. For example last season Cabaye came back right when we signed a few very good players who came into the side and helped us start winning again. Cabaye's a big reason for our wins, but those stats are a bit misleading.

I think if there's a deadline day 'panic' bid...we'll squeeze every penny we can...ie make them go to 26-28m. I'm basing this on absolutely nothing. Ronaldo
And we concede far more goals. So much for playing a DM to protect the back 4.
TaylorJ_01
Without Cabaye we've zero creativity in the side. Other than Benny and Marveaux who he stupidly won't play I can only think of Vuckic who is remotely creative Tiote/Anita/Marveaux would be decent but Pardew is a wank hat. merlin
14m for Cabaye is a joke...they must be either trying it on - just as NUFC do when attempting to buy a player - or they are just trying to unsettle Cabaye in the belief he doesn't really want to go anywhere else. They'll be back...and maybe others too in due course.

merlin
Did anyone read this column from the Secret Footballer? http://www.thesecretfootballer.com/articles/the-secret-footballer/14959/text-what-text-kenwyne-jones-the-truth/ "Clubs feed the public domain with stories like this all the time. I can remember a similar thing happening to a goalkeeper who I used to play with – the nicest, most professional and seriously talented player you could ever wish to meet. He did extremely well for our club and, as a result, he attracted a lot of interest from clubs in the top four. Eventually, one of those clubs put some serious money on the table. Understandably, our club did not want to sell him but, instead of rejecting the offer and releasing a statement, they rejected the offer and came up with their own plan. These days, it is not enough to simply reject an offer because there is so much money in the game that clubs are rarely put off by the size of a transfer fee alone. Our club knew that their goalkeeper would be the subject of further bids if it did not nip the situation in the bud immediately. On the Friday before a big game, the manager asked our goalkeeper if he was OK to play? Perhaps his heart was elsewhere, maybe he needed to have a weekend on his own to take his mind off things? “No,” replied our goalkeeper, “I’m fine with everything and looking forward to the game.” The following day the papers were littered with one quote from our manager: “We dropped the player for the weekend’s match,” he said, “because it was clear that his head was all over the place and he couldn’t deal with all the speculation.” And that was it. No more bids from the interested club; in fact, no more bids from anybody. Who wants a player, especially a goalkeeper, who crumbles under a bit of pressure? It was very clever and, at the same time, extremely vindictive." Add to this Wenger's comments about not paying so much for a 'squad player', and in August at least we had our player put perfectly in his place. Could this be happening again (if you think it could have happened then)? Are you suggesting we did the dirty on Cabaye so that nobody would offer anything for him and we get to keep an unhappy player? Sounds about as plausible as some of the other ludicrous conspiracies demonising the club on here. The club don't need to have anyone demonising them on here or anywhere else - they make a first class job of demonising themselves at just about every turn.... mrmojorisin75
mainly concerned about the mackems game now tbh, it's basically all we have left to play for and we might lose our most influential player right before it with little chance of replacing lets be honest, even if they have a replacement lined up pardew won't be able to make it work in time 'cause he won't have the requisite 3 months prep to action a change to his "plan"

Couldn't have worked out better, almost like we wanted to sell him in the last week of the window.
mrmojorisin75
If that's how it all pans out then yeah, I'll be very cynical about the whole thing - releasing info on low bids etc. Wet dream for Pardew if we get beat mind, all hated and attention on Mike and killer Joe instead of his own failings.
