The most worrying thing about the sale imo, is not necessarily the loss of the player or the message it sends out of us being a small thinking club. Pardew's recent press quotes appear to point to that being the case, sadly. We might be able to unsettle a Frenchman in double-quick time, though.

The opposite we have seen many a time where a player got signed for £17m and left for nothing after years of declining form.

 

Continued reinvestment is the way forward. Now is the time to sell Cabaye, but we must get what follows right either now or in the summer.
