We understand that Newcastle have won the race for Demba Ba, will be in North East today before completing in next 24 hours...#nufc #efc

Dunno whether to be  :celb: or :undecided:

I'd say its worthy of a :) Good target man who bagged a fair few goals for West Ham. Will be decent for us if he stays fit.

How many goals did he get for West Ham in how many games?

7 in 12 league games.

Canny

He looked good the few times I saw West Ham the back end of last season, would be happy with this signing.

When I saw him for West Ham he looked good and wondered why we weren't in for him in January.

But his knee worries me still.  Fair enough if we've got clauses regarding this in the contract but it still doesn't help us if we're one striker down come November...

Obviously serious injury can happen to anyone but its still a little worrying.

assuming he does join, what reason do we think he's chosen us over everton?

£££. And all the French lads we're bringing in.

why would we be willing to pay more than them though?

We've got more money than them. Plus we'll shed the best part of £8m a year from the wage bill with the departures of Barton, Nolan, Enrique and Smith.

Everton's lure is overrated on here. Even if they've ended above us for a good while, I'd say we've got just as big of a name as Everton out there.

Ambitions, money and the French connection is possible specific reasons.

i'm willing to agree we're probably of equal standing reputation wise give or take, it just doesnt seem to add up being that we look to save money every which way we can that we'd offer more than them. unless the free transfer/only have to give the agents 2m aspect of the deal was enough to get ashley hard.
