AlanSkÃrare
My take on the whole clause thing is this. Ba has done incredibly well for us, he has a clause and he's not on a contract that is - from his point of view - what he deserves. His agent goes public with the clause to force us to renegotiate his contract, as he wants to stay. Fair play to the agent who wouldn't be doing his job very well otherwise, stupid move from the club to include it to begin with. I reckon we may well see him sign a new, improved deal soon. Dr Venkman
Lowes and Anderson have just sold him to about 5 teams on Radio Newcastle What they say? have to say i really can't stand those two? John Anderson the last time i had to listen to a game (may have been Blackburn in the cup last time) is so miserable and consistently says things like "he's never been a player" etc Said they'd be more surprised if there wasn't a release clause in his deal (i agree with them on this point although I wouldn't go as far as they did) and that if a team offerred him regular champions league football he's as good as gone and could leave with his head held high. Then went on to say he'd get loads of goals playing for Spurs and would probably fancy going there.
tastylittlenumber
Just offer him half a mil to have the release clause taken out of his contract, surely he would go for that?
Dave
@Football_Agent9 Football Agent The release clause for Demba Ba only applies for Champions League teams. 2 minutes ago Dunno how reliable this person is (if at all). Lots of journalists follow them though.

Would still be shit. And what counts as a Champions League team these days? City and Man Utd who already dropped out but will almost for sure qualify for next season? Spurs, who aren't in the CL but seem more and more likely to qualify? Arsenal and Chelsea who are still in there but aren't sure to qualify?

Dave
@LukeEdwardsTele Luke Edwards Pardew refused to answer questions on Demba Ba clause. No confirmation, no denial so make your own minds up on its existence @MsiDouglas Mark Douglas But on Ba, evasion from AP. No comment on the release clause, answered his own imaginary question when I asked whether he wanted to keep him 4 minutes ago

Stu
Why would you want him to answer questions? the club have made their position clear to the media, why expect the manager to be fielding questions about it? He's there to talk about the match and the players playing in it. If he had any say in the club's transfer policy, it might be a different story... TRon
I think Ba will want to stay here anyway, but we'll probably have to give him an improved contract with the likes of Spurs hovering.

You could have at least used his actual twitter username Tbh i don't know it . I was riding on the wave of my last successful attempt but it was always going to be hard with it being so soon. Anyway for what it's worth i really can't see him leaving and i think he'd be a fool to move in January. Probably picking up a very decent wage playing for a team that plays to his strengths. To me he's one of the most complete strikers out there and i'd actually prefer him to stay with you guys despite thinking he'd be an awesome signing. A bit like our Modric transfer saga to Chelski really.
Skeletor
Can imagine Redknapp trying to bid though: Redknapp: 'I hear Ba has a release clause of £7m in his contract' Pardew: 'It's not club policy to talk about players contracts' Redknapp: 'But if we bid £7m you have to accept right?' Pardew: 'That's a nice watch you have there Harry' Redknapp: 'Stop changing the subject. We're bidding £7m, can we talk to him now?' Pardew: 'It's a free country' Redknapp: 'And offer him a contract' Pardew: 'It's not club policy to talk about contracts.' http://cdn3.wn.com/pd/7e/cb/0d2e82c59e6cde496dd91450ef97_grande.jpg

Still can't see him going in January and i think we are in a good position to renegotiated should such a clause exist
