Demba Ba (now retired)

I've heard from a few people including one inside the club that Ba and Cisse don't get on at all.

Without verging into "Jose Enrique body language" territory, they don't look at each other very often during matches, let alone pass to one another!

Rather strange considering the glowing terms Ba spoke of "Papisto" in when he first arrived at the club.

This.  Ba seemed to tweet and comment a hell of a lot about Cisse when he first signed and started scoring.  Also, was feeling weird that there have been some press mentions in articles in the last few months of the two not exactly being friends.

Honestly wouldn't matter if they actually worked together as partners on the pitch as mentioned Cole and Sheringham, Shearer and Bellamy etc etc didn't really get on by the complimented each other perfectly on the pitch.

Quite obvious Ba and Cisse don't compliment each other at all.

Just because someone comes from the same country as you it doesn't mean you'll be best friends. As long as they don't hate each other it shouldn't be a problem. At work there's people I get on really well with and others I get on OK with. It will be the same for the players at any football club. Perch mentioned being good friends with Williamson. That doesn't mean Perch doesn't like Taylor or Colo.

They haven't even got that in common tbh, Ba is a born and bred Parisien.

The lack of eye contact is very striking.

I imagine Ba is quite a handful to manage and potentially the most divisive member of the squad if he's not getting his own way. The end of last season showed a side to him that I didn't like at all and I've never really felt the same about him, as a personality, since then. Cracking striker though and that's what really matters.

I think so too, just what I was told.

Clutching at straws a bit here, but Pardew might be trying to milk every last goal out of Ba we can get before January, when few of us would be surprised if he left. Then we'll switch to Cisse as the main man and use the Ba fee to fill the spot on the left.

That's not wishful thinking but I can see that happening.

That doesn't make any sense at all

If he's off in January, it's not like we're going to get more than £7m anyway, so it doesn't matter if he or anyone else scores for us. Surely then it'd be better to just tell him to play out wide and try and Cissé in form for when he leaves and the team to get used to the 4-3-3 again?

As Ba is currently the inform striker he's in the middle with seemingly little thought about anything else. This might be because we think he'll be off in January so we're sticking with the in form player while he's scoring and will change the formation in January when the "problem" of Ba needing to be on the pitch, but not wanting to play out wide, is "solved".

Ba going out wide now is risking a lot considering his form and Cisse's form.
