Again, still plenty of time. If we can't find a player in 7 weeks then we should just close down our scouting network.

We needed a striker going into January. I would hope that 6-8 months would be long enough to come up with more than one or two targets.

Haven't we already gone for 4 and got one?

We did fail in January though.

We've gone for Gameiro and Erdinc. I'd be amazed if we planned on going for Ba.

Wasn't the story about 6 weeks ago it was Gameiro or Gervinho at the time not both?

I won't be surprised if his I want to stay in Paris talk is a ploy to get a better contract offer from us. Likely already talking to his agent.

I thought all the posturing might be due to wage demands.

Why do you not think we planned to go for Ba Dave? And if we didn't, why did we change our mind suddenly?

For a start West Ham were only relegated with one game to play. Okay it was on the cards for ages but still. He'd have cost us millions otherwise. Same with this release clause - if it didn't exist I'm not sure we'd have been in for him.

Perhaps we knew about the clause, knew West Ham were going down and it was just a matter of waiting for the opportunity. Or maybe we were going to bid for him anyway. I just doubt it. It became apparent he was available and we jumped in there. I'm delighted about it don't get me wrong, but I find it difficult to believe we planned to get him.

This is what I thought, I know Gervinho isn't techinically a striker but I think we would have played him as a forward so from Gameiro, Gervinho, Erdnic and Ba we have targetted 4 forwards and signed 1  ???

Also if Ba wasn't originally targetted it gives me more hope that we can diverge from our initial targets.

I think Ba was always on the cards as a back up plan to Gervinho. Ba can obviously play up top but he can also play wide too just like Gervinho. I think Erdinc was back-up to Gameiro and Long is probably back up to this Turkish fella.

From reading Erding's comments the other day about wanting to stay in Paris it's possible that he priced us out of a move deliberately.

What happened to Mark Douglas' claim we had a list of 5 strikers playing in Europe?

Pretty shambolic on the Striker front ,they have had months to find a replacement for Carroll and now we are running out of options with no targets if thats what we are led to believe ,pay stucture for a proven quality forward would have to be broken imho as they are specialist .

Gervinho, Gameiro, Erding, Rondon (who we apparently cooled interest in) and Papa Cisse?

Berbatov was Plan A? I must've missed that. If we're just placing the players we've been ever so slightly linked with in order of who we'd prefer, I think we're down to plan Z already tbh. Fucking disgrace of a club. Nasri's clearly available this year, why havn't we gone in for him?

Which striker plan are we currently on now....G?

Plan A...Berbatov    ......NEXT....

This is getting really fucking boring.

The moral of this story is to aim lower in the first place.

If we had just gone for Carlton Cole in the first place we wouldn't have done all this fannying about!

If we had only went in for Mackail-Smith straight away we wouldn't be in this dire situation...actually Brighton are going places he would have been scribbled off pretty quickly  :tickedoff:

Costing Stoke £6m isn't he? Six million times the player than Ba tbh.

EDIT: The report I just read said they originally bid £3m but then doubled their bid? Did they really just go straight from £3m to £6m? Sounds like something we would've done under Shepherd.

Apparently Ba wasn't free  :nope: there isn't a such thing as free transfers according Newcastle United Football Club, they are actually really expensive and take up a large chunk of 35 million pound...  :snod:

true though. because they  have no transfer fee attached wages go up and agents ramp up their fees aswell. bosman reaslly meant more money left football by going to players to spend on cars, bling houses and keeping the whore wives happy when they go dicking about.

Do you genuinely not understand what people mean when they say that signing a player on a free transfer costs the club money or are you trying to be funny?

So really the free transfer was our Marquee signing we just don't know it because we can't see Ba's bank statement or his agent's...stupid game!
