Cajun
It's a shame as he has been class at times bit it does seem difficult to find a role for him, not really a wide player, bit soft for a CM, could play behind a striker but there has normally been better options. Far less talented players seem to get in the squad purely because they have a role which suits how we might set up. You can hardly say Obertan gets in there for workrate but at least it is obvious where he can play (although atrociously).
Teasy
I would've liked to seen more of Marveaux but let's be honest about it, he was pretty average when he did get a look in. I'm not entirely sure why he's behind Obertan in the pecking order but that's about it. Bollocks was he average all the time, he had some very good performances. You could count them on one hand. He was a winger who did his best work in the centre of the park, but when we played him there games passed him by. I don't know how we could accommodate him, particularly now we've got Anita and Sissoko on top of Cabaye and Tiote. Maybe two hands , but then he's only made 28 appearances and plenty of those were short subs where he wouldn't have had time to produce a very good performance. Yes some games passed him by, and he played very well in others. Not an average player at all, just one that wasn't consistent, for a variety of reasons. Ketsbaia
Always liked Marveaux but we have quality midfield options and he's the unlucky one to always miss out. I could never understand benching Obertan ahead of him, though. Someone is getting a canny player.

If you were struggling to open up a team or needed a goal then I would think he'd be a better option than Obertan on the bench because he can beat players and can shoot and pass much better than Obertan. Guest bimpy474
How Pardew sees Obertan as a better option from the bench than this lad is mental. Sums Pardew up.
sempuki
If he can stay fit he will be a good signing for someone though I would imagine he will go back to France. Clearly has no future here.

Minhosa
Must have a clause in his contract preventing any future involvement. How many appearances has he made?

Mick
Nobody will ever convince me that he's not better than some of the players who have had game time since he last did.
toontownman
Technically he is amongst the best at the club. His close control and use of the ball is first class. He would have featured much more under a more attack minded manager. On a much smaller degree marveaux and Ben Arfa are in the same position Robert was under Souness. Leazes1986
I've asked Caulkin about him, he's gonna try and get some quotes from Pardew this week, it fucking baffles me.
Guest bimpy474
Too nice a player, the fact he doesn't run and tackle like Julian Dicks means Pardew doesn't want to know. Not much point in giving Pardew any players with a bit of flair, they'll only be on the bench. Flair players are no good for containment now are they. AlanSkÃrare
It's not about training ground improvement. It's about Pardew preferring defensively minded players. Same reason Ben Arfa isn't playing. Marveaux's useful in the nr. 10 role, we could do with him in home games. I think someone like Martinez would get the best out of him. BrettNUFC
He mentions Sammy deserving just as much chance as Marv does, and i agree. However there's simply no need for Obertan to be getting on ahead of both. Against Man City, i thought the first two subs should have been Ben Arfa/Gouffran Cabaye/Marv...would have still been able to keep hold of our formation but we could have added a couple more creative match winners to the side to unlock City. A midfielder for a striker wasn't negative but it seemed more of a desperate change for a goal than a clever one. Marv is on a decent wage here and with his injury record and lack of first team opportunities, i think it's clear he won't be around much longer and it's a bit of a shame as i really believe he's more than good enough to have impact in our current squad if used correctly. Darth Crooks
Theres a slightly increased chance of him coming on in the 80th with loads of pressure when the containment plan goes tits topside.

Agree entirely regarding the subs, that's my biggest beef with Pardew, he doesn't seem to have the intelligence to turn a game around during the 90. He seems to rely entirely on his week long preparation and if that goes down the pan, he's fucked.
