Let him go. Cancel Colo's contract and find a replacement.

If it's a matter of life and death the club really shouldn't stand in his way.

What makes you think that it is? that blog suggest it's been ongoing for a while, even before he extended his contract, so doubt it's to do with serious ilness.

Since when have the papers cared if the reasons are relevant, it doesn't matter to them how low or personal the details are if it gets readers and sells papers they'll run a story.

Credit probably needs to go to the club's media and PR people for convincing the, hardly moral, British media to keep this all hushed up.

We're obviously trying to tread as carefully as possible with the situation, so as not to upset Colo further. Shows how much we think of him, as I really struggle to imagine Derek and Mike being the sympathetic types.

Could be marital problems or a whole other number of things like. Serious illness is not the only thing long term.

Just a hunch. It's hard to tell as there's been no statement from either camp.

what a mess :(

can he still be our captain and start games like nothing happened? Will he be able to perform and will it have an negative effect on the squad?

No idea whats going on or how it should be solved?

Problem is he justed signed new contract and him still having a high market price...

I'm going to point out that this is a wind up in this post. People will still fall for it even after this post. Watch...

This is the last thing we need, so fingers crossed. If the players we've signed have an impact and Cisse finds his shooting boots, we could even let him go in thirteen or fourteen weeks' time if safety seems assured.

Europa League aside, this season is now all about doing everything to stay up. If that is achieved (basically six wins), the rest of the games are largely meaningless.

Yeah, there's normally a Thursday presser isn't there? This isn't the one that was 'scheduled' or 'booked in' or whatever that people were bullshitting about, this is just the usual weekly one.

Isn't that just if we've got a game during the weekend?

If it were a life and death thing, Colo would be crazy not to leak that to the press, it would paint the club as the evil oppressor if they didn't let him walk.

Legally it's perfectly in Colo's hands, he can retire from football, pretty sure that option is always available to him.

If all it is, is that his wife isn't happy living in Newcastle, I'm sorry but that's not a big enough reason for the club to right of millions of pounds and further weaken our team during this critical period.
