Not looking good for Rob Elliot, who is doubtful for next weekend with a thigh injury. Karl Darlow still weeks away from a return.

It had to happen. Boringly predictable.

If Elliot is out, surely now we can apply for an emergency transfer? Valdes wants out in January, could do with him here now.

Believe Woodman stops that, there was something in chronicle about it when Krul was injured.

Aye but that was because we had both Elliot and Woodman fit. But if Elliot is out and we're down to only 1 fit keeper out of the 4 we registered, then we would be elligble to apply for the emergency keeper transfer.

I believe the argument was that Woodman is a professional player at the club and so the rule is all professional keepers must be out:

Point 54 of Section 6 of the Football League and Premier League’s regulations deals with the emergency loan of goalkeepers, and this clearly states that such provisions will only be granted should all registered professional stoppers at a club be ruled out on medical grounds (or due to suspensions).

Nah.

It's at the discretion of the Premier League board:

"V.7.6.2. the Temporary Transfer of a goalkeeper which in its absolute discretion the Board may allow in circumstances it considers to be exceptional;"

Elliot had a fitness test before the match and they were expecting Woodman to play today.

It is always the same with Elliot - all the talk about how he is going to seize his opportunity and and couple of weeks later he is injured.

He did okay today and made a canny save from Jon Walters.

Passed a late fitness test apparently, Woodman had been pencilled in to start and was also sent out to warm up midway through the 2nd half when it was noticeable that Elliott was throwing the ball out or bowling it out and not kicking unless he desperately had to.

Well worth his new long-term contract.
