What an absolute waste of time that article is. Fernando Amorebieta has signed for Fulham n all so at least it's inaccurate too.

Reid just signed a new contract too. God awful article as usual

Newcastle United do not have to spend a fortune to improve first-team squad

Neil Cameron - 15 May 2013

Fernando Amorebieta (Athletic Bilbao)

Now this guy is a player.

The classy centre-half, 28, has admitted recently that he wants to test himself in the Premier league and will leave the Basque country this summer after over 200 appearances for Bilbao.

The Venezuelan has been linked with Arsenal, but don’t let that put you off, given Arsene Wenger’s tendency to weaken his defence every season.

What the hell has Neil Cameron been taking? I watch Bilbao regurlarly and this guy is a more finessed version of Titus Bramble, makes a couple of big mistakes every game and is a liability on cards. Rehab Neil?

He's a fantastic RB though.

Joan Verdu (Espanyol)

Pardew wants to play quick passing football – and the little Spanish midfielder is a gem at doing just that.

Verdu sets up goals and scores them as well, something desperately needed by Newcastle.

He’s 30 so has plenty left in the tank. Swansea want him – which is a good sign!

Where to people think Darren Bent will move to, one of the promoted sides? West Brom? Fulham?

Villa will still want some cash so cant see any promoted team paying for him unless Cardiff spend big. Could see him at Fulham or maybe Pulis(if he stays) could have one last desperate throw of the dice to do something with Stoke.

Could see him moving to a club like Crystal Palace if he went down in wages. Be harsh on that Murray guy but if he's the center-point of attack for a team I still think Bent could score 14-15 goals a season.

Murray looks like missing all of next season with cruciate trouble

I think well see the promoted sides strengthen with the tv money. If you can get a goal scorer to score 12-15 goals you've got a great shot at staying up.

True but wages/fee is a big investment when they also need better players across the board too. Not convinced they would pay that or that Bent will go either.

Guest expat in the pool

i can see villa letting him go cheaply to get him off the wage bill.

if he's cheap then the buying club can give him a signing on fee to compensate him dropping his wages to fit into new clubs wage structure

(...)

Fabrizio Miccoli (Palermo)

Over 100 goals in Serie A should make anyone ignore the fact he’s just out of his twenties.

He has played a lot of his football on the left side of a 4-3-3, rather than as an out-and-out striker, which certainly goes in his favour.

Miccoli has been capped 10 times and won’t be well known in the UK, but has 190 goals with the likes of Juventus, Fiorentina and Benfica.

:anguish:

Great player. Would tear apart most Premier League defenses. We lacked the funds to buy him at the time (high wages I guess) so he ended up returning to Italy.

Fast, skilled, accurate right foot... very underrated. Scored a 40 yards volley some moths ago.
