henke
Dortmund looks awesome. We need standing in this country. Amazed that you guys dont have standing or drinking in the stands. Even our backwater league has standing and drinking and the cops and most the public hate "wogball" I've stood many times at what was energy australia stadium. Behind the goal, i believe it's been built up now but 7 or 8 years ago when it was just a grass bank, few beers on a sunday arvo - happy days! Village Idiot
Removing the terraces has killed support in Spain, too. Remember the atmospheres when I was younger, nothing compared to the crap we get now in most places.
maybe_next_year
Uh oh the standing debate seems like its on its way back. I'll kick us off then. There's no way we'll ever see support or atmosphere close to those the Germans and Turks and other continental teams create until standing is back. isn't it also that in places like turkey , its as much a competition between the fans to see who can create the best and biggest displays as it is about supporting the team? Good old bogan country I just can't really imagine not being able to take my beer back down into wherever I am watching on game day. Beer showers when Sydney scores are also an expensive positive. More than that. Look at places like Sweeden where supporters are coming together to protest the FA or Poland where since the last president passed away the Polish fans have used the terraces as a protest against the new government. Exactly! How did beer ever hurt anyone. Lolz @ bogan by the way i haven't heard that in years. I was in sydney for a year initially, decided to watch newcastle pre jets united because of the name, didn't realise the train took a fucking eternity because it stops at every lamp post. But once i'd seen them one time swicthing to one of the sydney clubs (nsl) was un thinkable.

Have you ever experience atmosphere on matches like you can see in Turkey, Greece, Balkans etc? I went to River v Boca at the Monumental. At kick off both sets of fans had big gaps in the middle of the terrace at their end, 10 mins into the game a few thousand River fans entered the stadium and filled up their gap whilst doing a display with flags etc. Then 20 mins into the game the Boca fans did the same. The broad based teams established only 7 years ago now that constitute our national league are doing good PR work that the ethnic based teams simply could/would not do. http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/750/nelregnodeldiavoloho3.jpg Old one but a good one.
