It’s not about whether he holds negative opinions, it’s about the fact that he’s voiced them publicly (unwittingly or otherwise).

He’s placed himself in an untenable position in terms of refereeing their games, or any game that impacts them, and as a result he’ll have to get booted.

I’ll accept that if we get much much harsher punishments for abusing officials than we have right now to go with it. Accepting the likes of Klopp abusing refs is what has created this situation.

Perhaps, yes, but that’s a different discussion.

If you’re a PL referee, you have to accept that you’re held to certain (very high) standard of behaviour, relating to directly to football matters anyway, almost regardless of how poorly a manager, player or whoever has behaved.

Not really very fair, but that’s just the way it is.

He should get a slap on the wrist, but that’s all. Anyone that thinks referees shouldn’t hold negative opinions about people like Klopp that get off on yelling abuse in their face are idiots.

Is everyone just overlooking the fact he was high on coke then?

I know loads use it but is a class A illegal substance...

Then again you can't legally prove it by looking at a video, no matter how obvious it is.

You should see the other video of him riding his bike, and pulling his maddest cowie face

His best bet here is to own up to it and put it down to a mental health crisis caused by the way players and managers are allowed to shout at and abuse officials. The FA/PL have done very little to control that over the years so it would potentially be very bad optics for them to then fire him, particularly if other refs backed him up.

The way Klopp was allowed to behave was ridiculous, everyone has known it for years.

Klopp ranting at him years ago causing him to get off his face and call him a prick doesn’t sound watertight to me.

The video is from years ago isn't it?

Is it? I just heard him reference “during Covid” so I thought he was talking about the distant past, although not sure he actually really knew exactly what he was talking about tbf.

Nah they were referencing social distancing. Very much looked like it had been filmed during Covid to me.

Didn't he just fail to give two stonewall penalties against Liverpool a few days ago?

I think it's more that he's just a shite ref than he has a bias towards one club or another. He consistently makes bad decisions, just as he did when making this video.

Yeah I’m not saying he’s actually biased, I’m sure he just doesn't like Klopp, but because of what he’s said and his past non decisions for them his impartiality will be called into question every time and they can’t have that so he has to go I guess.

Were there no rules against this behaviour? Could he not have told the main ref to send him off? Admittedly I'm not sure what consequences this got, but I don't think Klopp got sent off many times at all.

Imagine the meltdown if Klopp had been sent off a few times.

Sounded like he said German cunt there on camera. Not sure how you come back from that tbh.

Aye that’s him done, the dafty. Been stitched up something rotten as well it would appear.

Has kept the international break mildly interesting at least.
