Had some mates in our Whatsapp generally saying we deserved to win, we played well, they were shit.  But a couple actually saying the first thing the ref gave them was the early whistle at the end

I know it's massively off topic but this is wild as well. Liverpool got ratted towards the end of the first half, and certainly had some ref assistance second half BUT at the same time they showed resilience, tenacity and quality to get back in the game twice and then had a spell where it looked like they would go on to steamroller us.

They weren't the best team on the night but they were far from "shit".

I wonder what your Liverpool mates would have made of the palace game last weekend

I think it is sometimes a coping mechanism for all sets of fans.

“Take nothing away from you. You deserved to win. But we were shit. Worst we’ve played all season.”

So take quite a lot away from the team that has won/played very well/made you look worse than you are for spells

When we’ve been at our most effective under Howe. Most fans used to say it. As when we got it right, not many sides could live with our style of play and intensity. So they’d just put it down to playing crap and not turning up on the day.

I happened to post on a reddit thread about the VVD foul on Gordon. Queue a flood of private messages from Liverpool fans slagging me and NUFC off. Good to see they don't take things too seriously. Still a total farce that VAR didn't even make the ref look at it.

Coote sacked by PGMOL.

I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you!

Well not that shocked.

PGMOL had to show some integrity at some point, right... 😅

Only because it "impacted" Liverpool - anyone else other than the Cartel3 he would have got away with it

I feel for him.

I get that his position was basically untenable and he was a fool to find himself in that spot but at the same time I don't really think he did much wrong, or at least nothing that probably goes on all the time.

It's not something I think you should lose your job over.

Pretty much any employer with a "Bringing the Organization into Disrepute" policy in their HR brief would sack him.

I dunno like. I think it seemed like he’d lose his job on the first video alone. As he’d never be out of the limelight and Liverpool would always feel like he is against them. Then there was more, wasn’t there? Like the video of him sniffing gear, the text messages etc.

My job doesn’t involve being in the public domain (thank fuck). But if I was involved in something like the above. Say massively slagging off a customer/supplier on video, then doing lines and then a load of messages hinting at possible corruption/being a bit of a nonce and/or creep. Then I’d fully expect to lose my job.

Are you for real? You're basically normalising that sort of behaviour if you do nothing about it. The bloke is working for an organisation that supports many initiatives aimed at kids and families FFS [emoji38]

That’s exactly what I said to my chief superintendent. He didn’t give a fuck.

It's indicative of the mentality towards drugs that when something like this happens the reaction is to fucking end someone's career and reputation and not to offer support.

He hasn't killed anyone ffs, and let's face it, you're not telling me everyone involved in top level sports is clean as a whistle. He's been hung out to dry by a shitty cabal of an institution.

You're absolute scum of the earth if you think a Premier League football referee openly doing class A drugs is behaviour that should be normalised.

Who here has said it should be normalised?

People are saying he shouldn't be sacked...

That's not the same as 'normalising' though.

And before you start wheeling out shite like folk are 'scum of the earth', perhaps think about the broad spectrum of perspectives people approach issues like this from
