Any sort of stats and figures regarding VAR and 'correcting calls' I always take with a complete pinch of salt. At the end of the day it's just one referees opinion against 2 others in a studio somewhere. Even something that could be black and white like offside calls can be murky by adding in human opinions of whether someone is interfering or standing in the keeprs line of vision

For example, the van Dijk shoulder charge on Gordon at SJP earlier this season. Where does that appear in the statistics? Does it go down as a correct call because the referee didn't give a penalty and VAR didn't intervene? Even though the vast majoirty of fans would say that VAR should have intervened and given a penalty? But then again some fans would say it wasn't a penalty at all and it was the correct call

So who is deciding what these 'correct calls' are? It's not black and white like goalline technology, it's completely subjective and always will be. It's why VAR can never work in a sport like football

We could have had VAR in the 90s and 00s when football was reaching the peak of its popularity.

There was a reason we didn't and it's not because we've only just invented replays in the last 5 years.

Yeah it’s because Man U wanted their keeper to be allowed to retrieve the ball from the back of the net and pretend it didn’t go in

I think VAR needs to be put on a time limit if it’s going to stay. Its so fucking slow. If you can’t make a decision in say 90 seconds, its not a clear and obvious error and on pitch decision stands.

Gomez fouls Tonali on the breakaway and then minutes later kicks the ball away despite it being out of touch - neither a yellow according to that fucking cunt Taylor. Hope someone decks him when he's out and about after he ignored the Yates elbow on Tino at Forest too the utter wanker.

We need AI to do the decisions. And VAR needs to be black and white, no intended, natural position or any shit that can make human errors.

It’s weird because when they do these tables of what it would look like, they do it for every decision that VAR has overturned.

When they do stats about how accurate it is, they only include televised games that include one of the top 6 clubs.

We were bad but this cunt did everything he could to make things 10x worse. No exaggeration to say they could have 3 players off for holding players when we were on the break. That NFL tackle on Willock not getting a yellow was about as farcical as it gets. Genuinely not fit to referee, an absolute disgrace.

Up there with the worst.  Not necessarily against us, just complete dog shit in all aspects. From missed corner kicks, to foul throws being asked to be retaken, missing blatant yellow cards, failing to punish players in one moment to then pulling back play for the same thing the next. Not allowing the game to play out, to completely missing the simplest of decisions for pulls/dives etc. Completely and utter abysmal in every single way. Him and his cronies.

Booked Joelinton for a shirt pull so thought that was the gage. Brighton had to have gotten away with the same thing 20x thereafter. Either without the same punishment or without even a foul.

Seemed just pot luck which of their injury feigning on the ground he bought and which he waved on - probably based his lotto numbers on it or something.

Helped make an already wretched game worse to the point it shouldn't have been possible to lose control so laboured was it but he managed it.

Wasn't the reason we lost but was completely clueless.

Not going to go through them all but the rugby tackle on Wilson not resulting in a card was probably the highlight.

Booked Joelinton for the first pullback of the game then let about 6 players from both teams get away with far more blatant ones. Baffling.

Like Oliver, he had a few years where he was very food but he seems to have hit some sort of menopause-related insanity about 18 months ago and he's useless now.

Really? I have no recollection of him having a period where he was anything other than total shit. Constantly misreads the game and appears to guess what to do. I think he’s probably in my top two refs to avoid

Amazing that in one game a referee can influence the outcome of our entire season - going from still being in two cups and chasing Europe, to ending one cup run, sabotaging the final of another and also weakening our squad for the league run-in, all with some wank officiating. Do I blame Gordon? A little, but nowhere near as much as the ref in today's match. I know the FA think the sun shines out of his arse, but personally, I thought he was shit today.
