If he's using this to get a new contract from Ashley, he's not winning that one.

If he did get a new contract somehow, how will it look when he suddenly wears the shirt, nah can't see it being that, it'll all just look ridiculous.

I think he's using it to leave, did he look happy last season to you?

Nope, he look fecked off. We didn't give him decent service virtually all season long, can't blame him for that.

If this is true and he does want to leave, and in that he is indeed using his religion as the lever. He can fuck off, as he's a coward and liar. Think there's more to it tbh.

He'd probably have to film himself taking a shit on our club badge for me to have any ill will towards him after his form in the first half season here tbh. I could never hate the man that scored those two goals at Stamford Bridge.

I love him and if Pardew would set the team up to make chances for him, i think he would score tons. Pardew won't and can't as he a complete idiot tactically attacking wise.

Pardew.....well what else can be said about him.

Yeah I am willing to give Papiss the benefit of any doubt this issue is explained properly. He has earn't that I feel with the way he has conducted himself so far for us. Poor year mainly last year but still came up with some massively crucial goals in the second half of the season despite a criminal lack of service.

He looked sick as fuck at the end of last season, and who can blame him? The tactics aside, this is what happens when you have a poacher in a team of players who create fuck all.

Yep, spot on. He should just come out and say so and not use a wanky lie.

Cissé is as good as gone. The deal with Wonga was signed in October 2012 so he's know since then that they would be our sponsor. He should hand a transfer request in as there is no way he can get out of wearing the club sponsor on his shirt.

If his reasoning for not wanting to wear the Wonga sponsored shirt are "religious grounds" then we know that he is a massive hypocrite. I wonder what a Muslim cleric's views would be on a Muslim going to casinos, smoking with a Hookah pipe, having 'relations' outside of marriage with a non-Muslim, wearing clothing sponsored by money lenders (Northern Rock, Virgin Money & Barclays), working in a place where alcohol is sold and advertised and where gambling is promoted (St James Park), etc.

Ridiculous Interest Rates Against Your Principles – Then How Can Anybody Play In The ‘Barclays’ Premier League?

Yesterday by Archie Brand

So, Cisse says ‘I object’ and may be given permission to wear a charity shirt.

Tiote now feels bad and goes the same way. Followed by Haidara, Ben Arfa and goodness knows how many more, because now it’s not religious. It’s principle – and that’s much more serious.

So there’s no reason why Taylor, Colo, Jonas, Krul and the rest should not join in, because lets face it, they would be pretty embarrassed by now, appearing to condone high interest loans.

Who is going to sponsor a club’s shirts if the players can just boycott them as they wish, just because they ‘disagree’ with their business practices?

For example a player decides that they will not play for a team sponsored by Samsung, because they ‘stole’ a “gesture” from Apple, or Etihad because of UAE human rights issues. Or the plethora of gambling sponsors.

Where does it all end?

Long and slippery slope guys. Take a look at the number of sponsors that we could take offence to. Open season.

If Cisse refuses to wear the Wonga he is quite simply in breach of contract. He either walks or is sacked. And Ashley – regardless of what you may think of him, cannot allow any player to dictate these terms. It’s not about religion now.

Shirt sponsorship is a huge money earner (just look at Etihad) and anyone who rocks that particular boat should be turfed overboard. Non- negotiable.

Yes – it’s a shame that Mary Poppins didn’t offer to sponsor us, but one minute we are complaining about no money being spent, the next we’re complaining about where it’s coming from.

For goodness sake, at which point do we actually take responsibility for our actions and stop blaming the likes of Wonga?

We are adults. We know the terms. We make the decisions.

Whether it’s high interest loans, casinos, cigarettes or booze, we have to accept the responsibility.

Just out of interest – I’ve been plugging away at this one for weeks – Northern Rock and then Virgin Money both charge interest on their products, but nobody objected to that.

OK – so here’s the big one.

Where do you draw the line?

Surely refusing to wear the shirt but continuing to accept the money is major league hypocrisy? (or perhaps that should be Premiere League Hypocrisy?)

Are we saying that I’m happy to take the money, as long as I don’t have to wear the shirt, so please just keep giving me the fifty grand a week, because I quite like that part of the deal?

If this really is a matter of principle based purely on the concept of interest (which we have already challenged) then I would assume that when he leaves Cisse will not go to another team in the BARCLAYS Premier League, because as far as I can tell, those buggers are still charging me interest on my mortgage.

And who would want to be part of that?

thing is the cliche used about strikers is that the best take their chances when they come along, last season he didn't. (crikey, reading at home in particular which seemed like a turning point we could/should have been at least 3, hat trick for cisse, by half time)

Would Cissé have complained if our new sponsor had been Newcastle Brown Ale and would some fans be so quick to back him as they are over Wonga? Just about every sponsor in the Premiership isn't allowed for Muslims (Banking, gambling, alcohol, etc).

A Muslim guy rang into the Football talk on BBC Radio Newcastle today (sometime between 6pm and 7pm) and he said if Cissé was such a devote Muslim he wouldn't appear at Football grounds as alcohol is sold in them all.

would the fans have been so quick to back him had he been a reserve we were looking to offload ?

As usual, nothing from the club ever since this whole thing began. They are shockingly bad at PR. They took forever to announce Kinnear and even then barely explained anything at all. No comment from Pardew for weeks, this thing with Cisse going on for ages now in the press and they can't even be arsed to launch the kit etc.

Wonder if he'd been better off saying regardless of religion he just had a moral issue with Wonga. I would be sympathetic to that

people would say  "barclays have done far worse, are you saying you have to leave the premier league ?"

More sympathetic maybe but with the same end result. He'd still be in a no win situation where he would end up leaving. He won't wear the sponsor (which is in all players contracts that they have to wear it) so he leaves. The 'Charity' or 'No Sponsor' idea is a total none starter for all the reasons given in The Mag article on the previous page.

or a win win depending on what he wants.

Imo the whole refusal to wear the shirt sounds like an excuse that is being used by a player that may be looking for a way out of the club. Similar to when nzogbia refused to play for us again because he was so 'offended' when JFK got his name wrong. I am sure we could simply give him a plain strip without the wonga label and the situation would be resolved, there has to be more to it than the sponser.

Have to say, it's really weird that people are jumping to the conclusion that he has any other agenda than just not wanting to wear the shirt.

just seems a lame thing to take a stand on given he's been ok with it in the past.

I think we need to realise that Wonga are a lot worse than Virgin Money.

Seems like something that could have been resolved a long time ago which makes me personally believe something fishy is going on. Whether that be Cisse wants away or the people at the club want to cash in on him and replace with cheaper alternative.

Either way just thinking about this shit pisses me off. It's one thing after another with this club. (might be getting a little wound up due to the heat :))
