Genuinely think Cisse used the faith angle not in an attempt to force a move, but so that he didn't have to constantly fucking talk about not wanting to be associated with the company. Obviously that completely fucking backfired.

His distaste for Wonga is probably a moral concern, rather than a spiritual dilemma. He more than likely figured that the people in charge would respect his wishes and work towards a solution.

:yao: Oops.

I was pissed off when Wonga were announced as sponsor and this standoff is ultimately another consequence of that as far as I'm concerned, no matter what your theory on the situation is. Even if you're on board with the theory that he's being opportunistic and wants away then he'd be gone or on the transfer list by now if it wasn't for that piece-of-shit glorified loanshark. If he's a genuine problem with it then the bad effects are obvious and we're stuck in this stupid situation effectively without a decent goalscorer on the books. Sad times when our great club are defending the reputation and interests of a company like that.

Who has defended Wonga? For me its about wanting what is best for the club, ans what is best is Cisse drops this so we can move on. Season starts in a month ffs and this is still hot topic and that is down to Cisse no one else.

The club are defending an odious company like Wonga by insisting a player wears the sponsor despite his moral/religious protestations otherwise. We haven't simply jumped into bed with them, we're now in the business of defending their commercial interests and reputation too. Shouldn't have agreed the deal in the first place.

Duo and 'polic are bang on imo.

The fans/local media really should be blasting Wonga instead of directing their fury at Cisse because his beliefs seem bit mixed up.

I agree, but the fans do fuck all these days. Same goes with the results, pardew, all the other shit, the fans just turn up and Ashley doesn't care.

Wonga are a shit company, so are SD, Pardew is a shit manager, Kinnear a fucking loon it goes on and on...Cisse isn't helping things, if he's that bothered hoy in a TR and let us all move on.

What his game is I haven't got a clue, don't really care, i just want him playing next season or him off the books and new strikers in willing to play for the club. Without players willing to play we are completely fucked.

This just reminds me of when Keegan sued the club and people were delighted when he wanted to take £20m off us, yeah, that is really going to help. Madness man.

Course we shouldn't have, but its happened and they are here for the next 4 years. Because of that i do what i do, buy nowt with wonga on, for myself or the bairn, thats my choice that effects me and him. Cisse's decision effects the entire club and not in a good way however shit Wonga are, the whole Premiership is full of companies who don't just push the envelope they rip it up and breaks laws at a constant rate without giving a fuck.

If you want to remain clean of all this stay away from this league in particular but in all honesty football is corrupt frim the very top, Blatter and the backhander crew and the dodgy WC bids a prime example.

Like it or not, the fact is that the world of PL shirt sponsors is populated by scummy corporations:

Emirates

dafabet

Malaysia

Samsung

GAC Logistics

Chang

Marathonbet

Cash Converters

Standard Chartered

Etihad Airways

Aon

Wonga

Aviva

aap3

Bet365

BFS Group

GWFX

HP

Zoopla

Alpari

You could pick nits with any one of those sponsors, but that's not a footballer's job.

Personally I prefer the more moderate religious folk who are willing to let minor stuff slide - think that's being pretty flexible and accomodating with your religious beliefs, which is what people are usually in favour of.  Aren't they?

Gambling doesn't seem minor:

http://www.islamawareness.net/Gambling/gambling_fatwa001.html

I've read plenty of stuff like this over the past few weeks and like i said weeks ago that pic of him in the casino will change everything.

But the basis behind Islam's stance on gambling is that it's wrong because for you to win, someone else has to lose.  So gambling with a guy who has very little and potentially taking the last of his money would be more sinful than gamblign against a casino where they can afford to pay it.  Most reports have cited both his 'religious and moral beliefs' so I don't see how it can't be a combination of the two unless he's a full on dogmatic religious zealot.

Contraceptives are apparently a major no-no for Catholics, but it seems rank and file are happy to ignore it, while still citing their faith on other beliefs.

If Wonga didn't lend to people who couldn't pay the money back, they'd likely go out of business.  Payday lenders get 50% of their income from fees and charges for late payments, not the interest they make such a big deal about informing peope of upfront.

Aye, what the f*** was that mick?

Do you see no irony in somebody talking to the press and playing a part in one person having his photo splashed all over while not wanting the same for himself?

Keegan had every right to sue the arseholes who fucked him over and regarding your other post I drew the line at legalised loansharks, as did you and many others. It doesn't mean I'll stop watching football like, but it was another kick in the balls I wasn't happy with. Same as you, I won't wear the logo and am disgusted at us yet again. The fact we are having problems because of it now is yet another reason to detest the decision.

You'll not stop watching and Cisse shouldn't stop playing. Its that simple man. We've all just got to get on with it, no one is happy about this and Cisse has now painted himself in to a corner and that last picture is concrete proof he gambles therefore as said 'people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones'

I honestly can't understand why their are NUFC fans on twitter outwardly sharing these photos? That photo was tweeted to Wraith, what the fuck is the point?

Maybe they want resolution one way or another. This forces Cisse to make a decision; stick or twist.

Because ultimately - rightly or wrongly - people will defend the club ahead of any player, despite how previously popular they may be. Even if the club is rotten to the core and run by absolute cunts with no morals.

Disagree, he obviously wants out of the club (don't really blame him)but does not have the balls to say so..

Without a doubt one of my favourite players but the way he has went about this stinks.

Hope the club come out and put him up for sale.

I quite agree, but it's the same any time a player is looking like they might leave for any reason. They transform into greedy/hypocritical/shit bastards almost overnight. The club have it so easy it's unreal.
