Fulham 5 - 2 Newcastle United - 21/01/12 - Post-disaster reaction from page 60

The main problem imo was that Jol changed it to two strikers with Johnson running at our central pair which seemed to spark fear and indescision. The key element however is that without Tiote there was no defensive screen. That's it in a nutshell.

Yep, it was very strange for us not to adapt when Johnson came on. He's exactly the kind of player thy always causes us problems.

Ah well, you win some, you lose some, Manyoo got battered 6-0 earlier in the season, we took a pasting and we need to come back out fighting, we're still 6th thanks to the racist giro collectors and when the Arse fuck it up tomorrow we'll be no better or worse off. We just need to be professional and not let this have a knock on effect, learn from our mistakes.

"You can explain everything," Jol said.

"The first half we knew that we had to be a threat in behind [Mike] Williamson and [Fabricio] Coloccini, but we never did that.

"We couldn't exploit our extra man in midfield and in the second half it was different because we decided to play a more direct style. That caused them more problems.

"It was 1-0 and we knew we had come back from that before. The score was not the problem, the style of play was more of a problem. We just didn't put enough energy into it.

"Of course with the runners from midfield and bringing on Andrew Johnson we got that [in the second period] and that is exactly what you saw.

"Having said that, we wanted to do that with Damien Duff, Clint and Bobby Zamora but we couldn't keep the ball.

"If we played it up to Bobby we couldn't get the runners in behind and with Andrew Johnson he solved that problem.

"I wanted to change things at half-time but of course we had (Steve) Sidwell going off [injured just before the break].

"That probably meant we didn't look balanced enough in midfield [so I brought on Chris Baird at half-time].

"The first half was sort of Brixton, the second half was a holiday in Jamaica. It was an unbelievable difference."

unbelievable game,  can't believe we can go for being so good in the 1st half too so horrendously bad in the 2nd...we were fantastic in the first half, totally dominating them and deservedly going in 1 nil up at half time, should really have been two as Colo should have scored.  While we had other decent efforts the HBA shot and Shola's two efforts(header and shot from edge of the box) were comfortable saves.

2nd half was just a shambles, only thing missing was a red card and we were lucky not too get one as Santon and Krul could easily have gone when giving away the penalties.    The first pen was the turning point, don't think it was a pen, dubious foul and if it was a foul then it was outside the box.  Worst thing was though is that the ref didn't give it, when the players hit the deck Mason waved play on and from the side on replay i delibrately looked at the lineswoman to see if she flagged and she didn't, well not straightaway, she might of when the camera switched.  It was probably 15 seconds later following Duff's appeal when he pointed to the spot.  Very poor from the ref.

In saying that,  one poor decision shouldn't set us back like it did and from the moment Murphy scored we fell apart and were all over the place.  Although it was partly due to Sidwell's injury fair play to Jol's two subs as bringing on Johnson and then Baird helped them massively and not for the first time we couldn't handle Andy Johnson.... hopefully his rumoured tranfer to Blackburn doesn't go through or we could get flashbacks in the next game....

We practically play with 10 men with Shola in the team. His abject performances always eventually lead to the rest of the team ending up in a funk. The guy is so annoying.

We can just about get away with it if Tiote and Ba are about, but without these two we cannot carry Shola. What the hell do all these crazy managers continually see in this guy. It's not funny anymore.

The only good thing is in a couple of weeks Shola won't be getting anywhere near the squad with the Dembii plus Best and Barfa.

Here we go, Credit to Jol as he knew exactly what to do to attack us. See what Pardew said...Bemuse by collapse...i still have no confidence with Pardew with tactics...he just isnt that sharp in this area. His most efficient football that has gave him results is his flat 4-4-2 that mostly rely on the individual brilliance from his players.

We lost 1-5 in 45 mins... can't get any worse. Pardew out !

Nah we could have lost 8-1 and I'd still have respect for Pardew after he proved himself in severe adversity(all coming from us fans who thought he'd be a sh*t appointment) and he stired us to a very good season so far.

Hope ashley hasn't read this he sacks managers we have any respect for(big sam is an exception)

Also we're still 6th so cheer up lads
