An Italian footballer defended himself yesterday against a growing chorus of condemnation over his use of a straight-arm salute to a Right-wing crowd by saying "I am a fascist' date=' not a racist".[/quote']

The Nazis weren't fascists in the usual mould, anyway.

Fascism places cultural regeneration at the heart of its philosophy. The Nazis placed anti-Semetism at the heart of their philosophy.

Fascism is widely misunderstood because when people think Fascism they think Nazism, which is a popular misconception.
