Rangers Newco

A 'Glasgow Cup' would be a shambles if Rangers were a 3rd Division team. They'd just get destroyed. If it was involving other Glasgow teams, Partick would probably end up in the final with Celtic anyway.

Rangers chief executive Charles Green has again warned he is prepared to take legal action against any players who refuse to transfer their contracts to his new company and any clubs who attempt to sign those players.

Steven Naismith and Steven Whittaker have become the latest players to confirm that they do not want their contracts transferred to newco Rangers.

The Scotland duo are not planning to report back for pre-season training this week and consider themselves to be free to find new clubs for next season.

Green responded by reiterating previous warnings that he will challenge any attempts by players to walk away from his club for nothing.

He said in a statement: "It is a great pity that certain players have chosen this time to attempt to tear up their contracts and walk away from the club.

"The club is facing massive challenges in terms of its league status and the last thing the fans want to see is a dispute between the club and players.

"However, it appears that is the route several players are choosing. I can assure those players and clubs who may be interested in signing them that Rangers will seek damages for breach of contract and for inducement to break contracts."

Green is an idiot. He knows he is in the wrong on TUPE and is trying to strongarm players into staying by making their lives uncomfortable. If his legal challenge prevented a transfer and that challenge was proved to be unfounded, those players could seek damages for loss of earnings which would swiftly put them back into administration.

Indeed, it's madness. I mean, how can you have contracts or registration with a company that doesn't exist?

CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION ORDERED INTO RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB ACQUISITION AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

The Crown Office has today instructed Strathclyde Police to conduct a criminal investigation into the acquisition of Rangers Football Club in May 2011 and the subsequent financial management of the Club.

The investigation into alleged criminality follows a preliminary police examination of information passed to them in February this year by the Club administrators.

The Procurator Fiscal for the West of Scotland will now work with Strathclyde Police to fully investigate the acquisition and financial management of Rangers Football Club and any related reports of alleged criminality during that process.
