4-3-3

Why the f*** has he changed it?

One reason: Demba Ba...

...to make him happy and sign that contract after the season  ???

The 4-3-3 system is really good for us when teams attack us, but it's not as effective against Bolton as we rarely are on the counter. We can't seem to cut through the amount of players Bolton keep back.

That's HBA back to his former old of his first games for us this season. Selfish.

Not really. Bolton are compact around their 18 yard box. Long range efforts will be needed.

Yes, but he should be having the eye for the team member instead of the eye for the goal at times really.

He has been. If you get a chance to look at that play again look at what options he had. Ba and Cissé. Ba cut across him into the shooting lane. There wasn't a passing lane (outside of an audacious chip without the outside of foot over the defense to Ba). Cissé was also marked. Bolton are compact really right around their box. Passing lanes just aren't there.

Only options are long range efforts to force them to close down quickly (which will open them up and create passing lanes), or to go down the flanks and get a cross in (Bolton have 2 meathead CBs to contest those crosses).

Is it as s**** as people are making out?

No, I think people have let the 4 wins on the bounce affect their expectations..

Disagree we have created f*ck all and its mainly because we are sitting deep at home and hoofing in 4-4-2

All to get Ba his goal, no one will tell me otherwise why else would we switch to 4-4-2 when 4-3-3 works so well.

It gets the best out of Jonas, Cabaye, Ben Arfa etc etc.....

It's f*ckin shit and should never be used ever again.

Bolton are s****. But we totally lack energi and motivation. Cant see why but it must fall back at Pardew. The players walk around and look disinterested. Wish the crowd would do more to cheer our players forward!

Sounds bizarre but I'd love to see him swap R.Taylor for Simpson at HT and then switch the full back. They're doubling up on Ben Arda which leaves a lot of room for the full back but Simpson just isn't doing enough to be a threat. Santon going forward on the right would have plenty of room to attack.

4-3-3

Push Cabaye further forward

Why the f*** has he changed it?

One reason: Demba Ba

very important to our chances of success imo

They are not going to get behind us, they are playing Davies up on his own ffs

Lets push on

..........................Perch............................

.............Cabaye.................Jonas.............

HBA..................................................Ba

.............................Cisse..........................

There was no excuse for us changing formation, it's that simple. I'm not saying we cant beat Bolton in 442 but we are much more threatening when we play 433.

Pardew must change it. Cisse and Ba have been missing, as well as a handful of others. Very poor half.

Fair enough. If he scores or - as you say - opens up some space for the team members then it'll be allright.

new tactics please, these ones aren't working

Thing is, we generally always look like this at home against the poor teams. We shouldn't be playing Perch, that's for sure.

aye that's fine, no bother, just saying first 45 minutes we were very poor and couldn't break them down with the players and set up so it really needs changing

it's not even a case that we should just keep plugging away and it'll come right in the end, it looks all wrong and the players don't look comfortable with it either

Comfortable first half, but I don't think we'll hold out for the whole game. Offered absolutely nothing going forward though, Mark Davies needs to get in the game more.

I can't tell if he's talented, or is getting the Scott Parker effect of looking like a class player because he's surrounded by crap (West Ham last season).

4-3-3 gives us more possession in the middle and with Cabaye in a more forward position we will create
