He didnt put a foot in though

He did, actually caught Agbonlahor's foot too. Stupid decision to go in rash like that in your own penalty area when the opposition player is moving away from goal. Stay on your feet and just shepherd him out before making a challenge.

Ne he didn't. Agbonlahor stood on Debuchy's foot and proceeded to go down like he'd been sniped.

I saw it exactly the other way. May need to watch it again. I think he was surprised by Agbonlahor's burst of pace to get to the ball before him as he had already committed to the tackle.

Debuchy has shown good attacking skills in his games so far, but is unconvincing when a quick forward takes him on for pace in defence.

This could well be that he is used to more time on the ball and to be able to support attacks in the French league and that is not available to him in the PL.

He is a quality player, but it may take him a while to adjust...look at Colo's first season...

Agree with that.

I was worried whenever they attacked him in the second half last night. Also thought he might've been injured in last 20mins? Got clattered a few times and was holding his leg and stomach (not just to show to ref but later when game was in-play). As said, early days, i'm not too worried.

Right, those pics WBCP posted prove me wrong: Agbonlahor stepped on Debuchy's foot, not the other way around. Not a pen in that case tbf.

He fell victim to a fantastic piece of cheating by Agbonlawhore. Villa were cheating as much as they could in the second half, diving, trying to kick us off the park, playing on after they'd injured our players, raking studs down Jonas legs and trying to wind him up, and it still didn't work. That's why the victory was that much more satisfying.

Just add him to the list. Ashley Young, Gerrard, Rooney, Agbonlahor, Welbeck, and many many more. The amount of English players I see diving now. Really annoys me when i hear pundits blaming it all on the foreign players.

soft pen maybe....but he still gave the ref a chance to award it. No need to do that...it was not a dangerous situation. silly mistake. learn from it and move on...

I'm not sure it's realistic for a player to go around thinking "he might dive, he might dive..." all the time. Dunno.

This picture tells you all you need to know, no one in the history of being tripped falls with their arms flying like that; only divers throw their arms up in the air.

Still shouldn't even have given Agbonlahor the chance to dive like.
