Apart from finishing 5th what has shocked/suprised you this season?

The fact that not just one thing went brilliantly, but most of them did.

Ba was mint

Best was good

Guthrie was good

R Taylor was good

Perch was mint

Williamson was generally good

Shola played his part

Cabaye is mint

Krul is mint

Cisse is mint

Ben Arfa played and we were right, he's mint. After banging the drum but finally giving up on Viana,Luque and Xisco, it was class for the hyped up 'why aren't they playing!?' player to come in and prove everyone right for once.

Other than Taylor, not having many injuries. Playing badly and getting results but playing well and getting them too.

Not having to look on the brightside.

Investing in January. Investing in January and it being an outstanding move.

Defying the odds.

Only getting beaten twice by one team, the billionaire owned champions.

Bouncing back.

Continuing form.

Living up to the hype.

Being disappointed that we didn't get into the Champions League ffs.

Goal of the season.

Manager of the season.

Our captain in the team of the season.

Selling the exact players that did so well for us last season and getting even better as a result.

Ashley looking like he knows what he's doing.

But most of all, every single one of those things happening in the same season.

So proud. This is the Newcastle United I've always wanted. Not just a brilliant one, but one that surprises me and pisses all over my expectations of being let down. I've seen better Newcastle teams, I've seen ones that should be better on paper, and I've seen more talented teams, but I've never seen a Newcastle team with the mix of talent, tactical awareness and hard work. No matter what any one of us think of their talent, every single one of them is worthy of wearing that shirt, and for me that's all I'll ever ask for. The rest is a truly unexpected, brilliant, and quite emotional bonus and I honestly can't thank the players, staff and management enough. It has been one of my favourite seasons and was almost worth going through relegation for. If anyone from the club reads this, simply; thank you.

That Ferguson got his team so close actually. A team that seems both desperately in need of a rebuild and still winning a ridiculous number of games, while rarely looking that impressive.

Wenger arguably has done a more impressive feat this season. That seemed a dog of a team start of season, and yet to get third is very impressive, all without arguably their best midfielder in Wilshere.

I think if Ferguson had won Man Utd the league, it would have been one of his greatest wins, because it's one of the poorest Man Utd sides in the PL era. Only Rooney could be classed as a top player at the peak of his career.

Non-NUFC has to be just how shit Liverpool truly are. I wouldn't have dreamed they'd be that s***.

For the most part, our shape and team work ethic. Really excellent at times. There was quite a few times this season our team were defending like a swarm of bees, it was like fantasy defending at times for me.

Also some of our football on the front foot was exceptional. Some of our goals were worthy of the "entertainers" tag from yesteryear. Brilliant  :smitten:

Surprised at how badly we got turned over in those big score games.

Oh well, you can't have it all :D

Getting into White Hart Lane, just in time to see Saha put them 3-0 up.

Leaving after 70 minutes.

£44 well spent. :papiss:

Surprised nobody has mentioned Gary Speed yet. Perhaps the most shocking event in years. Was so cold when it came out, just sat there physically shaking. Horrible, unbelievable stuff.

Didn't want to bring it up again. In terms of truly shocking stuff, his death trumped all. Never forget where I was when I heard the news. "Shocking" in the truest sense of the word.

Hadn't even thought about it. Honestly so unbelievable.

Was out at the time. Checked my phone and it popped up on Twitter. Just wanted to burst into tears - was so surreal. Didn't think I'd ever react like that to 'someone I didn't know'.
